After her critically acclaimed performance in Big Little Lies, Zoë Kravitz will be donning a catsuit to play Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman, in Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman film, which stars Robert Pattinson as the dark knight.

Pattinson, who was cast as Bruce Wayne earlier this year, has come a long way since the Twilight series with roles in several well-received indie films. Kravitz and Pattinson, 30 and 33, respectively, seem ideal to breathe new life into the characters after Ben Affleck appeared to struggle with the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017).

Kravitz commented on the announcement after her step-father Jason Momoa shared the news on Instagram. "I'm so proud of u zozo bear. On and off screen OHANA. DC WB ohana Lola and Wolfies big sister is CAT WOMAN," he wrote. "Unbelievable so freaking stoked. Your going to have so much fun Aloha P bear."

She responded, "LOVE YOU PAPABEAR! love that aquaman and catwomen spend the holidays together from now on."

What is unclear is if Catwoman and Batman will have a romantic relationship in the new film, which is expected to start filming later this year or in early 2020. So far, the two actors are the only big names attached to the project.

Kravitz, who made her film debut in the 2007 film No Reservations, a rom-com starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Aaron Eckhart, and Abigail Breslin, is no stranger to the superhero genre. She has starred as Angel Salvadore in the 2011 superhero film X-Men: First Class and in action films like The Divergent Series and Mad Max: Fury Road. She has also appeared in the Harry Potter spin-off film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. In addition, she played Selina Kyle / Catwoman in the computer-animated The Lego Batman Movie.

Kravitz, who is famously the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, will follow in the footsteps of other renowned Catwomen, including Eartha Kitt, Halle Berry, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Anne Hathaway.

The upcoming Batman film starring Pattinson and Kravitz is expected to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
