Zendaya Will Become Lancôme’s Latest Global Beauty Ambassador

Zendaya, who made film debut two years ago in Spider-Man: Homecoming, has been selected as the new face of Lancôme. The 22-year-old actress and singer joins other A-list ambassadors like Lupita Nyong’o, Penelope Cruz, Julia Roberts, Isabella Rossellini, Kate Winslet, Lily Collins and Taylor Hill, who have all represented the French cosmetics brand. “It’s a huge honor to be able to represent a brand like Lancôme and join such an incredible line-up of iconic women,” Zendaya said.

Known for her fashion and beauty sense, Zendaya, with more than 54 million social media followers, has become a role model for her generation. She is also an ambassador for Convoy of Hope, a nonprofit organization founded in 1994 that sponsors international programs that help and feed the poor. She celebrated her 18th birthday with a campaign that helped feed 150 hungry children for a year in Haiti, Tanzania and the Philippines through feedONE. On her 20th birthday, she raised $50,000 to support Convoy's Women's Empowerment Initiative.

In addition to Lâncome, Zendaya is the face of X-Out, Madonna's clothing line Material Girl, CoverGirl and Chi Hair Care. Last fall, Tommy Hilfiger signed her to be the brand’s global women’s ambassador. She was also ranked one of the best dressed women in 2018 by fashion website Net-a-Porter. An avowed makeup enthusiast, she often does her own makeup for events.

“We look forward to a joyous future with Zendaya, whose charisma, influence in film, music and fashion is undoubted. Zendaya brings a youthful and a unique approach to beauty that perfectly complements Lancôme’s vision and creativity,” said Lancôme Global Brand President Françoise Lehmann.

Zendaya, born in Oakland, California, has five older half-siblings on her father's side. Her father is African-American, while her mother is of German and Scottish ancestry. Her name derives from an African word meaning "to give thanks.”

On Instagram, Nyong’o sent a message welcoming Zendaya to “the club” and posted a photo of the two of them and Taylor Hill. Zendaya has turned heads on the red carpet with her long waves and a bold red lip as well as tight cornrows and a smoky eye. The actress said she's always admired Lancôme's "signature style" and "quality products," including her go-to mascara, Hypnôse Custom Volume Mascara. "Mascara is a very special thing. Everyone has their own favorite mascara and that one works," she added.
