After wrapping up a successful four-seasons-long partnership with Gigi Hadid earlier this year, Tommy Hilfiger has selected a new face to represent his fashion brand—Zendaya. The 22-year-old actress and singer will serve as the women’s global ambassador of Tommy Hilfiger and assist the brand in targeting millennials. She will also co-design and star in the brand’s Spring 2019 campaign.

Hilfiger announced the news in a series of images—two graphics and one photo of Hilfiger and Zendaya—on the brand’s official Instagram page on October 15th. The posts declared that the TommyXZendaya capsule collection will debut in February 2019. “Celebrating self-expression, individuality and empowerment…Our capsule collection will fuse her eclectic style with the Americana spirit of our brand,” the captions read.

The graphics featured a banner with “Zendaya” and “Tommy” written in 70s-style bubble letters. The rest of the scene could only be described as psychedelic—bright doodles of stars, lions, mermaids, crabs, and more spanned across the designs in every color of the rainbow. Hidden throughout the graphics were star signs written in more bubble letters, such as Pisces, Leo, and Capricorn. Could Hilfiger and Zendaya be planning a zodiac-themed campaign?

Hilfiger said in a press statement that he collaborates with people who are passionate about turning their dreams into a reality and inspire younger generations to follow suit. Zendaya has certainly proven she is doing just that. She is an advocate for the #WeNeedMore movement, Verizon’s effort to teach young children about the many career opportunities available in STEM fields. The singer often encourages youth to explore as many job options as possible.

Zendaya also uses fashion to make bold statements, which is another quality that designers like Hilfiger seek in brand ambassadors. In March, the Spiderman: Homecoming actress assisted in designing an affordable clothing collection for Boohoo, a UK-based online fashion retailer. The result, called Zendaya Edit For Boohoo, was a 90s-inspired, pastel-themed collection perfect for anyone trying to stand out in the fashion world on a budget.

In addition to her collaborations with fashion brands, Zendaya also launched her own line back in 2016. Daya by Zendaya included mostly gender-fluid pieces ranging from sizes 0-22 in an effort to be as inclusive as possible. Soft joggers, oversized hoodies, ruffled dresses, and velvet rompers are just a few of the items from her line, all of which were priced under $158. While Daya by Zendaya was successful, Zendaya decided to temporarily cease production to purse other endeavors.

“Fashion is more than just wearing cool clothes. It's a way to celebrate self-expression and individuality, which is extremely empowering. This is why I am proud to partner with Tommy Hilfiger,” Zendaya said in response to Hilfiger’s announcement.
