Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may had only been married for two years before calling it quits in 2016, but the couple had been together for well over a decade before that. During their time together, they increased their family by having six children, which includes three adopted children (Pax, Maddox, and Zahara) and three biological children (Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox).

Many fans still feel that the couple’s divorce, which still isn’t 100 percent finalized, was a complete surprise. No one guessed that the world’s most famous power couple was going to go their separate ways, but it was like a domino effect soon after Brad’s altercation with his eldest son on the family’s jet came to light.

But when we think about it, there’s a lot we don’t know about this famous family. Despite living life in the spotlight, Brad and Angelina have kept most details about their children and personal lives on the DL.

With that being said, while Brangelina may not like spilling details about their big brood, there have been multiple times when former employees of the family have come forward with insider details. From former nannies to bodyguards who became like family, fans will be surprised to learn some of the things Brad and Angie’s staff have said about them - and no, not all of it is positive!

20 A Nanny Said They Live Like Hippies

With as much wealth as Brangelina has, we can’t imagine them living a life that isn’t luxurious. But one former nanny for the family describes their lifestyle as hippie-like, and not in the trendy hipster way. Rather, they imply that Angie’s no-rules policy is actually working against her.

“Brad and Angie are very unconventional parents, to say the least,” a former nanny told Star Magazine. “It’s like they’re living in a hippie commune most of the time, because Angie doesn’t believe in rules. She thinks it’s important for the children to have freedom of expression, but that doesn’t always work well.”

19 They Don’t Force The Kids To Study

With their parents' hectic schedules, it’s no surprise that Brad and Angie have always insisted on homeschooling their kids.

However, we’re not sure how that’s going for them since former employees of the family insist the parents aren’t rigorous about getting their kids to study. Rather, they just let them learn whatever and whenever they want.

“[Ange] lets the kids learn what they want and ignore stuff that doesn’t interest them,” a former nanny told Star Magazine. “And they don’t take tests or do homework. The kids browse the internet as much as they like. They’re allowed to stay up until they can’t keep their eyes open anymore.”

18 Brad Was Worried About The FBI Investigation

Brad and Angelina’s divorce news broke at the same time that reports said Brad had an altercation with his eldest son, Pax, on the family’s private plane. However, what was even more surprising came next when the celebrity became the subject of an FBI investigation.

A former employee for the actor has since revealed that Brad was definitely worried when the investigation was underway, even though he was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing. “I have never seen Brad like this. He is distraught, pacing, nervous – totally [stressed],” the former employee said, as The Sun reports.

“He is just expressing to me that he is scared,” they continued. “He is scared of losing his kids over something that he hasn’t done and him being made out to look like a bad father. He is far from a bad father.”

17 The Nannies Go On Million-Dollar Vacations

Brad and Angelina used to make headlines every time they’d travel internationally with their large brood, which was surprisingly often. But it’s since been revealed that the couple would take an army of nannies with them to keep the kids in check. And they weren’t afraid to spend millions to make sure everyone was comfy.

“They’ve been known to spend upwards of $2 million on long, lavish vacations,” a former employee told Star Magazine. “But even in five-star hotels, the kids are running riot at all hours of the day and night. It’s exhausting for the nannies to keep up!”

Hopefully they were being paid well!

16 Brangelina Never Fought In Front Of The Kids

Fans say they never saw it coming after Brad and Angelina announced their divorce news. And it sounds like their staff was as surprised as we were. A former employee once said the couple would never fight in front of the staff or kids, saying they kept their issues to themselves.

“I am not privy when a couple is fighting over things,” an employee told The Sun. "They don’t do it in front of the kids, they certainly wouldn’t do it in front of the staff. Their issues are behind closed doors. But it takes two.”

If the staff doesn’t know, then we wonder if anyone knows the real reason why this power couple called it quits.

15 They Say The Kids Swear Constantly

From the little we see of the Jolie-Pitt kids, they always seem well-behaved and well-mannered. With six kids in the house, we’d say Angelina and Brad are doing a good job so long as they’re not swinging on chandeliers or sliding down stair bannisters.

However, in 2010, a former nanny for the family came forward to reveal just how chaotic Brangelina’s home can be. Evidently, the kids have quite the colourful vocabulary.

“The Jolie-Pitt home is more chaotic than anyone could imagine — a place rife with fighting, four-letter words, and sibling squabbles and injuries,” the ex staffer revealed, Hollywood Life reports.

14 Brad Asked His Staff To Take Care Of The Kids

There was a lot of talk over whether Brad was allowed to see his kids during his divorce from Angelina. A former employee for the actor has claimed that he was not able to see the kids for a while. Rather, the actor would have to ask the family’s staff about how his kids were doing.

“He’s not able to see the kids at the moment but he is constantly in touch with staff asking to make sure they’re okay,” the staffer said, The Sun reports. “He keeps saying: ‘Just look after my kids, that’s all that matters right now.’” We wonder if Angelina knew the staff were in talks with Brad, and how she felt about it.

13 They Say The Kids Do Chores

It’s hard to believe the Jolie-Pitt kids live in anything but the lap of luxury given how wealthy their parents are. But it sounds like Brangelina have tried to give their kids somewhat of a normal upbringing, thus why they’ve saddled them with normal responsibilities like doing chores.

A former employee for the family told The Sun that Brad is insistent that his six kids do chores. “He is a dad who will want the kids to do chores and things like that,” they revealed. “The kids never complained. They might have said, ‘My dad got upset with me,’ or ‘I’m not allowed to order any more video games,’ or ‘He took away my iTunes,’ or ‘He took away my computer.’”

12 Angelina Can’t Handle The Kids On Her Own

Recent reports have said that Angelina is having trouble handling her brood now that her older kids are teens (and she has found herself without a husband). However, even when Brad and Angelina were still together, former staff said the actress had a hard time handling the kids by herself and easily became stressed out.

“She called Brad in tears!” a former nanny told Hollywood Life about a time Angelina was left alone with the kids. “Even when she’s home, she is usually holed up in her room making phone calls. She likes to take credit for being supermom, but she really doesn’t spend a lot of time with the kids.”

We hope things have improved for her after her divorce.

11 The Kids Don’t Get Along With Each Other

With six siblings, we doubt that the Jolie-Pitt kids always get along. It would be hard having that many siblings! And while we’ve always liked to assume that the kids get along better than average, a former nanny once spilled the beans that the kids couldn’t be tougher on each other than they already are (especially the boys).

“There’s a lot of fighting among all the kids, especially Maddox and Pax. They both have bad tempers,” the former staff told Hollywood Life. They also revealed that Angelina isn’t the most involved parent, which probably means the kiddos are left to sort out their own disagreements.

10 Their Bodyguard Felt He Parented The Kids

It’s safe to say the Jolie-Pitt kids probably spend a lot of time with their parents’ staff, what with all the nannies, bodyguards, and personal assistants that work for the family. Back in 2016, a former bodyguard came forward saying he felt like more of a parent to the six kids than Brad or Angelina. Ouch!

According to Daily Mail, the ex-employee felt like he “[fathered] them, basically,” adding he was allowed to take the Jolie-Pitt kids anywhere he wanted. “I never had a private life- I was exhausted,” he added, pointing out he only had six weeks off out of 17 months. “[I] lost direction in my own family life.”

9 Angie’s Nanny Said She Had A Rough Childhood

Angelina is the daughter of two celebrities herself, director Jon Voight and actress Marcheline Bertrand. Unfortunately, her father wronged her mother when Ange was just a baby by falling for someone else.

In 2016, Angelina’s former childhood nanny came forward to critique how she handled the divorce. She laid blame on Angie’s childhood, which she said was tough because she was raised primarily by nannies. Her mother found it difficult to be with her because she looked so much like her father.

“I didn't think it was a good way to raise children as it meant [Angelina] had this carousel of people around [her who didn't give her the consistency she needed],” Krisann Morel told Daily Mail of Angelina’s parents.

8 And That’s Why She Cut Brad Off From The Kids

The reason Angelina’s old nanny came forward to the media was so she could beg the actress not to let her painful family history affect how she was handling her and Brad’s divorce. Specifically, Krisann was worried the actress was beginning to shut her ex hubby out from her and their kids’ lives.

"Please don't cut Brad out of the children's lives. Don't use the children [to your advantage] in your divorce. And don't demonize your husband,” Krisann, who was also a good friend of Angie’s mom, told Daily Mail. “Because that is exactly what your mother did when she was breaking up with your father. And the result was you had a lonely... childhood. Why would you inflict the same [...] on your kids?”

7 They’ve Been Sued By Their Staff

While many of the Jolie-Pitt’s former employees have spoken highly about them, some haven’t had such fond feelings. Back in 2011, one ex employee actually took the couple to court when she felt she had been wrongly terminated.

The unidentified woman worked as a translator for the couple at their home in France. She was eventually fired right after taking sick leave. The lawsuit stated she was seeking around $120,000 for being fired without a valid reason.

"She has nothing against them. But they did not step in to prevent her being dismissed,” her lawyer said at the time, Digital Spy reports. “This amount is a drop in the ocean for these stars."

6 The Kids Were Present For Angelina’s Labor

Some women find it weird having their significant other or even mom in the delivery room with them when they’re in labor. But other women actually appreciate having as many people as possible, and that is the case for Angelina!

Before the couple’s twins were born, a former employee revealed that Angie planned on having her four older children present in the delivery room, Marie Claire reports. Brad and Angie were flying the brood all the way out to France for the special moment, although their decision to have everyone involved definitely raised some eyebrows (even amongst their staff).

5 A Staffer Called Brad “The Enforcer”

Brangelina have always been notoriously private about their kids and personal life. So not much is known about their parenting style. But one time, a former staffer revealed that Brad is the tougher parent in the house, while Angie remains the more easy-going parent.

“[They play] good cop, bad cop,” the ex-employee told The Sun. They went on to describe brad as the “enforcer” in the household. At the same time the interview was published, there was talk over whether Brad had mistreated his son on the infamous plane incident (reports said Brad was known for having a temper). So, many fans didn’t take it as a good sign that Brad plays the bad cop.

4 The Kids Don’t Have A Bedtime

We’ll say it again. For some reason we always had the impression the Jolie-Pitt kids were super well-behaved and organized. They always look polite and put-together when out and about, so we don’t know how Angie keeps everyone calm if things are actually this hectic at home.

Speaking to Hollywood Life, a former nanny once revealed that it’s common for the kids to be up at all hours, making it sound like the word ‘curfew’ isn’t used a lot in the Jolie-Pitt household.

“They actually have no control over the kids,” the employee said. “In the middle of the night, they’re running down the hallway, waking their parents up and trying to get into their beds.”

3 They Don’t Think Brad Deserved The Bad Press

As we’ve established, there was a lot of negative attention surrounding Brad at the time of his and Angelina’s divorce. Fans weren’t sure what to think of the plane incident and subsequent drama that followed. Tabloids said the actor had many issues, from a drinking problem to a fiery temper.

But the actor’s staff haven’t been afraid to stick up for him. Speaking to The Sun, two employees said they didn’t believe Brad deserved all the bad attention. “[Brad] feels that what is being said isn’t accurate and fair,” one said. “I don’t believe it is either.”

The other staffer added, “It puts him through a lot. I don’t think he deserves it.”

2 Shiloh Is Closest To Her Dad

While former staff for the family say that Brad has been close with all of his children, it sounds like he and daughter Shiloh share an extra special bond.

“She idolizes Brad and pretty much likes all the same things he does,” a former nanny told Star Magazine, adding that at the time the eight year old liked to walk around the house mimicking her father’s actions. “She loves to play with her brothers, but she’ll also have tea parties with her sisters.”

Perhaps that’s why reports have recently suggested that Shiloh has moved in with her dad following her parents’ divorce.

1 The Kids Don’t Hang Out With Other Kids

Although Brangelina’s brood has since been seen rubbing shoulders with other famous kids, like Millie Bobby Brown, a former nanny once said that the parents could be strict about who their kids hung out with. In fact, the family once had a no-sleepover policy.

“Because they live such bizarre lives, they are just a very tight-knit clan,” a former staffer told Star Magazine. “They don’t have sleepovers with other kids - but they have each other.”

Even though there are six kids, we can imagine it gets boring for them having no one to hang out with but their siblings.
