The MCU has been a dominant force in the entertainment industry for the last 11 years, and it would make sense that all the top performers in the world would want to get a piece of the pie. Unfortunately for some, there is simply no way that they will ever be involved in the MCU. Whether they work for a rival studio or have other issues, these performers won’t be appearing alongside Black Panther or Captain Marvel anytime soon. Instead, they will be looking for roles in other projects while the next crop of new performers help take the MCU into an entirely new era.

Today, we want to take a look at 20 performers that will never appear in an MCU flick. Some would be a perfect fit, but there are too many things working against them at this point.

20 Anne Hathaway

The beautiful Anne Hathaway is one of the most famous women in the world, but we cannot imagine a situation in which she gets cast in an MCU film. After all, Hathaway played Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, and this could work against her. She has a good rapport with Disney, but she will not be in the MCU.

19 Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck is no stranger to superhero flicks, but this is exactly why he won’t be in the MCU anytime soon. Affleck got his first crack at a superhero blockbuster in Daredevil, and years later, he would play Batman in the DCEU, which is currently being revamped. It would have been nice to see him in the MCU instead of being wasted on DC.

18 Camren Bicondova

The MCU is no stranger to using top young talent to fill in some of their best roles, and while Camren Bicondova would seem like a natural fit, she just recently wrapped up a long stint on the series Gotham. Her time as Selene Kyle was successful, but Marvel will likely stay away from casting someone from a DC project.

17 Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig has been a prominent face in the business for years now, but this is because of the exceptional job that he has done as the legendary James Bond in the modern franchise. Craig, however, is clearly burnt out on franchises, as he once said, "All I want to do is move on. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”

16 Keira Knightley

Once someone gets in good with the House of Mouse, they can usually find themselves being tapped for a number of future projects. Keira Knightley rose to prominence after starring alongside Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and its sequels, but her foray into the MCU was not to be as she was passed up for the role of Peggy Carter.

15 Daniel Day-Lewis

Recently, we have seen some serious filmmakers lash out against the MCU, so it could be assumed that some of the more serious performers in Hollywood would actively avoid anything relating to comic book properties. Daniel Day-Lewis is a legend of the business, and he has already passed up a superhero opportunity when the role of Batman came knocking.

14 Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke is best known for her work on Game of Thrones, but over the years, she has made her way to the big screen to appear in other franchises. She most notably took roles in the Terminator and Star Wars universes, and while she was set to appear in Iron Man 3, things did not work out for the small screen star.

13 Jamie Foxx

It seems like the whole world loves Jamie Foxx, which is why he was cast in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The film did not go over quite as expected, and a whole new set of Spider-Man films got underway in the MCU. After what happened with his previous foray into superhero films and his casting in the upcoming Spawn, we can’t see him in the MCU.

12 Emily Blunt

According to WeGoThisCovered, there was a point in which it seemed like Emily Blunt was going to take the reins as Captain Marvel in the MCU, but this role eventually went to Brie Larson. After things did not work out the first time around, it is entirely possible the MCU would decide not to use Blunt in future projects— though she would make a great Sue Storm.

11 Jared Leto

This one seems pretty obvious, but there was no way that we could omit this from our list today. Jared Leto is a talented actor with the filmography to prove it, but his ill-fated run as the Clown Prince of Crime and the subsequent stories of his behavior behind the scenes will have Marvel running for the hills.

10 Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot is currently thriving as Wonder Woman over at DC, and during their uneven set of releases, she has been a mainstay that people have come to love. There are several roles that she could fill in the MCU, but with her DC run being a total smash, there is no way that this will ever happen.

9 Josh Peck

After making it as a child star and landing some more serious roles during his adult years, Josh Peck could bring a certain level of comedy to a superhero role, which is a tactic that Marvel has used already. He has worked events for Marvel recently, most notably the Captain Marvel premiere, but this does not mean that they will be casting him in a role anytime soon.

8 Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff has been involved with Disney since her teenage years on Lizzie McGuire, and the company would be wise to use her again. They did, in fact, decide to go with Duff for an upcoming role, but it is for the Lizzie McGuire revival and not a role in a future MCU project. This schedule will keep her sidelined from appearing in an MCU blockbuster.

7 Miles Teller

With a ton of talent and some solid films under his belt, Miles Teller is a performer that people would love to see in a blockbuster film. Unfortunately for Teller, he was the lead in the unsuccessful Fantastic Four, and Screen Rant has noted his alleged problems with the film’s director, which could keep the MCU away.

6 Jennifer Lawrence

Rare is it to see someone with multiple franchises and multiple Academy Awards to their name, but not everyone is Jennifer Lawrence. She has been at the top for a while now, but will the MCU come knocking? Probably not, as Lawrence has already anchored The Hunger Games films and has appeared in a (non-MCU-related) series of X-Men films.

5 Robert Pattinson

After making it big in the Twilight franchise, Robert Pattinson has done well in showing the world his acting chops by appearing in more artistic films. The MCU could have used someone with his abilities, and they even met with Pattinson in the past, but DC locked him down and cast him as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming film, The Batman.

4 Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel has been getting back into the groove of things in recent years, and many people still remember a time when she was the latest and greatest face in the entertainment industry. The MCU could look to capitalize on her return, but they will more than likely shy away, as Biel’s Blade: Trinity appearance already ticks the superhero film box.

3 Stephen Amell

Stephen Amell has shown himself to be a reliable performer capable of taking the lead in a project and helping it thrive, but this was for DC and not Marvel. His time as Green Arrow has been responsible for starting a small screen universe, which is why Marvel will stay away.

2 Kristen Bell

With several hit television shows and some successful films to her name, Kristen Bell has seen and done it all in the business. Throw on a voice role for a smash Disney film, and many would agree that Bell is one of the better performers of her era. However, she already took on a superhero role back on the series Heroes and seems more grounded in television work these days.

1 Taylor Lautner

Finally, we are going to wrap things up with Taylor Lautner. He was a huge success early on after he was involved in the Twilight franchise, but there are still plenty of people that remember him for his time in the superhero film, The Adventures of Shark-Boy and Lava Girl in 3D, which could work against him. Forbes, however, would love to see him as Namor.
