Tom Brady’s mother is reportedly “doing really well” following her cancer diagnosis two years ago.

It makes sense that the mother of the greatest quarterback of all time wouldn’t let something like breast cancer keep her down. According to a recent interview with People magazine, Tom Brady says his mom is just fine in her fight with the deadly disease.

“She’s doing really well,” he said. “I think any family that has dealt with cancer realizes the challenge it is not only at that moment, but as it continues to be.”

One in eight American women is diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Galynn Patricia Brady was one of the unlucky ones in June of 2016 when she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Throughout the latter half of that year, she underwent chemo and radiation therapy to nip the disease in the bud.

As a result, Galynn was unfortunately unable to attend many of Brady’s games in 2016. She was, however, able to able to attend Super Bowl LI and witness the Patriots’ stunning, come from behind victory over the Atlanta Falcons in overtime.

“She’s been through a lot,” wrote Brady following the game. “Way harder than what I went through last night.”

Luckily, her treatment went well and she seemed quite healthy by the time the Patriots made it to Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles. Here’s a Facebook post of the entire Brady clan, with Galynn smiling from ear to ear.

“I think she’s got so much appreciation for the people who have supported her,” Brady told People. “She’s such a wonderful woman and she’s been so positive through it all and we’ve been so proud of her.”

Galynn herself opened up about her experience in an interview with NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer last year. “I remember sitting in the doctor’s office and them telling me, ‘You have breast cancer and it’s only stage two. It's going to require a lot of chemotherapy and radiation’, and so the journey began."

But no matter what happens, she’s always going to try and be there for her son. “I think there’s a special bond between a mother and a son,” she said. “I just wanted to be there for Tommy, and I wanted to be there with our family. Everybody was going to the Super Bowl and I didn’t want to miss that.”
