As fans anxiously await the debut of the final season of Game of Thrones, its stars have been revealing behind the scenes secrets to whet our appetite before we are reunited with our heroes from Westeros. During an interview with InStyle, Sophie Turner, aka the fearless Sansa Stark, revealed that in the past producers have asked her to forego washing her hair to maintain the character's authenticity.

"For the first few seasons I was allowed to wash my hair because I was an aristocratic young girl, but toward season five they started asking me to not wash my hair, and it was really disgusting. Now I wear a wig, so I can wash my hair whenever I want, which is nice. But yes, for a couple of years I was living with pretty greasy hair," she said.

The naturally blond actress has spent years dyeing her hair for her part on Game of Thrones, as Sansa's color is a stunning shade of red. In November, the actress confessed to Glamour Magazine that once, after attempting to revert back to her natural shade, she nearly destroyed her hair and was forced to wear a wig for the show since dyeing it back to red would have made her hair fall out.

Other GoT actresses have also had hair drama. Emilia Clarke, the fierce Daenerys Targaryen, cut her hair short last year due to the damage her locks had sustained during filming. “I’m honestly trying to grow out the blond, because it’s just killed my hair, and I miss having nice hair," she said.

Turner, 22, also told Glamour that she swears by WellaPlex, a hair mask that features amino acids that penetrate deep into the hair cortex, restoring damaged hair and protecting it against free radical damage. “I use it every week because with the job I have, it's a lot of dyeing, straightening, curling, and heat damage. I'll put in on after showering, watch a bit of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and then I go back and wash it off," Turner said.

As the first international brand ambassador for Wella Hair, Turner is expected to keep her hair in optimum shape. Also, since she is expected to marry Joe Jonas soon, after the couple the couple announced their engagement on Instagram last October, we assume the actress will want to showcase her blonde mane at the wedding.

Although Game of Thrones is sadly coming to an end, Turner’s days as a redhead are far from over. She currently plays Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, in the X-Men series. The character is known for both her telekinetic powers and her fiery red hair. Turner, who first appeared as Phoenix in X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016, is set to return as the character in this year’s Dark Phoenix, which centers on the Jean Grey / Phoenix’s story, as well as her relationship with Scott Summers / Cyclops, played by Tye Sheridan.
