Sk8r Girl Avril Lavigne is back on the red carpet after a two-year hiatus and we are so glad she is back!
The punk rock princess was on hand for the 25th Annual Race to Erase MS Gala at The Beverly Hilton on April 20th. If seeing our favorite Sk8r girl wasn’t enough to make everyone happy, she gave her fans some even more amazing news. Lavigne has a new album coming out. Although she didn’t reveal a specific release date for her new music, she did share the album should be completely finished in about two weeks.
“These songs are different. I'm just sort of writing about what I'm going through now," she told Entertainment Tonight during her red carpet appearance.
Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2014, which is described as is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the Borrelia type and is generally spread by ticks.
Since her diagnosis, the singer has taken time away from the spotlight to deal with the disease. She revealed it left her suffering from a loss of appetite, lightheadedness, and caused her to be bedridden for five months.
"I'm feeling a lot better. It's been a long time. For me to be able to be here and I'm making a record right now. I have my life back which is amazing. It's something I continue to work at every day. And just, like, grateful to be making music. I've written a really powerful record, really emotional album sort of reflecting where I am today. I'm going to release that this year. I'm actually going to be done in two weeks," Lavigne explained, when asked how she was doing at the 25th Annual Race to Erase MS Gala.
Avril Lavigne not only made her first red carpet appearance in years the other day, but she looked gorgeous. She wore a floor-length, black Galia Lahav dress with sheer sleeves, a deep v-neck, and silver embellishments. Plus, the singer had a fabulous smile on her face throughout the evening, proving to fans she is not only ready for life in the spotlight again, but she is on the mend!
