Sir John Barnett, Beyoncé’s longtime makeup artist, released a line of animal cruelty-free and vegan-friendly beauty products in South Africa this week. The line, called Volume One, will be available for a limited time at select Woolworths locations and online at Woolworths.co.za.

The makeup artist, who has also worked with actress Priyanka Chopra and reality star Kim Kardashian West, has been collaborating with Beyoncé since 2010. His South African line will include a highlighter stick and an eyeshadow palette specifically formulated for the skin type of South African women. Sir John had previously worked with Woolworths on their W.Beauty line. This will be the first time he releases a line of beauty products bearing his name.

“From the very first product sketches to the name, the packaging, the symbolism, and the product intrinsics. It was very important to me that Volume 1 reflects who I am as an artist, and that it delivers the quality associated with the W.Beauty brand,” Sir John said. “To be able to fulfill a life-long dream of launching my own signature product range with a brand that shares my values and passion for celebrating beauty has been inspiring and life-changing.”

Woolworths beauty brand communication head Shaheda Sayed said Sir John had previously offered a series of makeup masterclasses across South Africa. “Having developed a strong working relationship with Sir John over the past few years, collaborating on a bespoke product line with the makeup maestro was a natural next step,” she said.

Sayed added that this is the first time that a well-known South African retailer has collaborated closely with a renowned international beauty guru to create a makeup collection that “to effortlessly illuminate South African women’s naturally sun-kissed skin.”

The line features, among others, the Sir John x W.Beauty Collaboration Brush Set, which includes four brushes that have been designed to apply, blend, set and highlight the face for a perfect finish; the Sir John x W.Beauty Liquid Shimmer Eyeshadows 4 Pack, which adds a touch of glamour and sparkle with four eyeshadows: Graphite Night, Royal Flirt, Moon Stone and Royal Opal; and the Sir John x W.Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick, a long-lasting and highly-pigmented liquid lipstick that adds a pop of color for a velvety matte finish.

The line also includes the Sir John x W.Beauty Illuminating Stick, which highlights and accentuates a woman’s best features; the Sir John x W.Beauty Illuminator Volume One, a velvet soft illuminating powder that adds a radiant glow to the complexion; and the Sir John x W.Beauty Eyeshadow Palette Volume One, which perfectly defines eyes with richly pigmented, crease-resistant eyeshadows.

Woolworths Holdings Limited, founded in 1931 in Cape Town, is a South Africa-based multinational retail company that owns the South African retail chain Woolworths, and Australian retailers David Jones and Country Road Group.
