Reese Witherspoon recently opened up about returning to play the role of Elle Woods in a Legally Blonde 3 and shared her feelings about the iconic character. The Walk The Line actress was invited to Ellen DeGeneres' show and was asked about the status of the rumoured third movie in the Legally Blonde series. Reese replied saying that there are meetings and talks about it, and then turned to the live audience asking them if they would want to see Legally Blonde 3, to which the crowd cheered excitedly. People are looking forward to the possibility of meeting Elle Woods on the big screen again, that is for sure!
Reese confirmed the rumours about a Legally Blonde 3 already last year, and she thinks it is as relatable and important as ever. The Sweet Home Alabama actress explained that the movie really is about how women are being underestimated, and although a lot has changed since 2001 when the first movie came out, not that much has really changed. Already last summer, Reese said she had been in Legally Blonde 3 meetings and was excited after hearing the new plot points. She did not reveal too much but said there will be some returning characters and some new ones.
As reported by ET Online, Reese herself has nothing but good things to say about her character Elle Woods and is more than happy to dust of the pink blazers and fashionable glasses. The forty-three-year-old said she loves playing Elle Woods and that she is so amazing, and given the cult status the character has gotten, it is safe to say she is not alone in thinking so.
While fans are patiently waiting for Legally Blonde 3, Reese will be on screens soon in season two of HBO drama Big Little Lies which starts airing this summer. The Cruel Intentions actress shared how amazing it has been like working together with Meryl Streep, who is the newest addition to the successful show. The iconic actress is joining Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz, and according to Reese, it has been a blast.
Legally Blonde 3 is scheduled to premiere on Valentine's Day in 2020, so fans of the Southern belle will have to make do with Big Little Lies until then.
