Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid tribute to Princess Diana in a number of subtle ways at the Royal Wedding.

Even though Princess Diana died almost 21-years ago, her presence was felt at her youngest son’s wedding, thanks to Harry and his wife honoring her loving memory. The groom was adamant that his mother’s family share in his big day and be part of the special ceremony.

Diana's siblings, Earl Charles Spencer, Lady Sarah McCorquodal and Lady Jane Fellowes, were all there to support their nephew, as Diana would have wanted. Lady Jane had a special role in the ceremony when she gave the only reading, from the Song of Solomon, during the wedding.

The hymn Guide Me, O Thy Great Redeemer was sung during the wedding ceremony. It was a nod to Harry’s mother because it was also the hymn that played during her funeral. A possible sad choice, but the tune has a very special meaning the Prince, who was clear it would be sang.

Along with Markle’s engagement ring having diamonds that belonged to Princess Diana, Harry also hand picked flowers from the gardens of Kensington Palace to include in his brides bouquet.

"The spring blooms include Forget-Me-Nots which were Diana, Princess of Wales’ favorite flower. The couple specifically chose them to be included in Ms. Markle’s bouquet to honour the memory of the late Princess on this special day," Kensington Palace said in a statement.

What's more, Meghan Markle's "something blue" was a ring that had previously belonged to Princess Diana.

Another way Princess Diana’s presence was at the Royal Wedding is thanks to Sir Elton John. The signer performed at a private reception for the newlyweds, just as he did for Prince William and Kate Middleton. He had a very special bond with Princess Diana and that bond has carried with her family after her passing.

Finally, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opted to have their wedding guests give a charitable donation, as opposed to a gift for the couple. On the list of charities were two that Princess Diana was a big supporter of before her death, Crisis and Children's HIV Association (CHIVA).

It was a magical day for Prince Harry despite having to wed without his mother there, but he and Meghan Markle did their best to honor her. We think the late Princess Diana would have been very proud of her son.
