Prince Harry recently flew to Africa and he was (gasp!) sans his Suits actress fiancee, Meghan Markle. Fans were surprised that the ginger-haired prince was seen without his lady love since the two have been photographed traveling all over together lately. Just a few weeks earlier, Rhino Conservation Botswana named Prince Harry as Patron of RCB. This title means that Prince Harry will be responsible for helping raise awareness of the trouble that Botswana's black and white rhinos are facing and help move the conservation effort in a forward direction.
"The rhino is one of Africa's most iconic species," Prince Harry said. "This is a black rhino, an animal that deserves the utmost respect, so to be able to be sitting next to her is incredibly special. The black rhino has been reintroduced into Botswana and its numbers are increasing here, while numbers are decreasing elsewhere. If we can't save these animals, what can we save?"
Prince Harry seems to hold Botswana in a special place in his heart. "I've been lucky enough to visit Botswana for more than 20 years and am incredibly fortunate to be able to call it my second home," Prince Harry has been quoted as saying. "Being Patron of RCB is an opportunity to give something back to a country that has given so much to me. It's about time we start celebrating and supporting the countries that are taking the lead in conservation."
The work that Prince Harry has signed up for, caring for animals, is very important to him. "Prince Harry is in Africa for a private working trip, focused on organizations working in conservation across the region and learning more about the issues affecting wildlife in the region," an inside source from Kensington Palace said. "Prince Harry holds official associations with two conservation charities in Africa, as Patron of Rhino Conservation Botswana and President of African Parks."
Even though Markle wasn't there for Prince Harry's most recent trip to Botswana, the couple has traveled to the prince's "second home" together before. In August last year, they celebrated her most recent thirty-sixth birthday surrounded by the beautiful African scenery. Since Prince Harry has many charitable obligations worldwide, this likely won't be the last time that he travels without his busy fiancée. They also enjoy working together for good causes, so we can't wait to see what great organization they will contribute their time and resources to next.
