Freddie Harrel has spent her entire life attempting to make her own hair look natural. She even turned to wigs for years to create her desired look.

However, when studying abroad in China, she had a "what the heck am I doing?" moment when the glue she used on her wig melted, making it noticeable that her hair was not real. Then she used extensions to highlight her own hair with more fullness and volume until she saw a documentary on the unethical creation process of human hair extensions. She was less than thrilled with her own hair, but it was her only option.

Around the same time she was struggling with her hair, Harrel started her own online video company that focused on confidence and self-love. She began working on loving herself and decided it was time to create hair extensions for women of color that were all natural.

Big Hair No Care has created a range of afro hair extensions and is now thriving. Harrel's line has clip in extensions that are a perfect fit for women of color with those super tight curls. There is the Zero Drama Queen line consisting of clip-ins that add volume to an afro. Although they are synthetic, they are made to feel like natural hair and are not coated like most other synthetic extensions. No Stress Princess is for women of color who want fullness but in a more straight and sleek look.

Each line comes in various lengths ranging from 14 inches to 20 inches. They come in bundles of 10 but can only be found in three colors: black, brown or ombré. The price of a ten pack depends on the length, but sets start at $59. Now, that is not too expensive, and as an added bonus because of the hair used to create them, the extensions can be washed and brushed at least once a week. The reason this is such good news is that it means that users can get about ten weeks out of just one pack.

Harrel is thrilled to be helping women of color be happy and build more confidence. Her theory is that it all starts at the root of the hair, which is kind of the case for all women. If our hair looks good, we automatically feel good. Harrel managed to turn her struggle into a way to make many women happy.
