For women having a bad hair day or self-esteem issues, lipstick is almost always a saving grace to save face. And no wonder. It's often the most visible cosmetic that we can see and it's handy for accentuating emotions.

So it's little wonder why cosmetistas are looking forward to July 29th, which is National Lipstick Day and to stay ahead of the pack a few companies are taking advantage of the occasion. Such is the case with MAC Cosmetics, which plans to give away some lipsticks that day. And by lipstick, they are not playing around with those miniature samples that last only for a handful of applications, but the full-sized items that beauty buffs find right on the shelf.

At retailers where MAC Cosmetics are sold, you can get a free tube without a purchase of any other MAC merch. Normally retailing at less than $20, all of MAC's lipstick lines will be given away, one per customer. However, the word from the fashionista front is that the products in big demand will include the shades "Dare You", and "Ruby Woo", both shaded crimson lippies that will make the boldest statement your lips could ever muster.

Also hot items for those who want to get away from the signature red, are the shimmering gold of "Tanarama", the pink bubblegum shade dubbed "Florabundi" and the purple hues of "Epic".

If you can't hit an outlet or if you live outside of the U.S., you can get a free stick online, although you will have to make an order worth at least $25 (Canadian residents pay $30).

While MAC's giveaway is a hot event, its customer base is probably aware that the company does give away lipstick to those who still hang onto the empty tubes. If you collect at least six of them over time, you can take them to a retailer, who will take them off your hands for recycling and offer you a fresh new tube of your choice at no charge.

As for those who might worry that this free giveaway will put a dent in MAC's earnings, fear not. Statistics indicate that somewhere on the planet, at least one MAC item is sold literally every second.
