Gilmore Girls fans enjoy the comforting sight of watching Lorelai and Rory enjoy a cup of coffee (and maybe some burgers or pancakes) at Luke's Diner. It's hilarious when Lorelai spars with her mom, Emily, and it's almost too much fun trying to pick which of Rory's three love interests is the right one.
It's only natural that since we're super interested in Myers-Briggs personalities these days, we would want to know what each of the main characters from one of our favorite TV shows would be. We love the gang from Stars Hollow, and we think that we can pinpoint their types. Here are the Myers-Briggs personality types of Gilmore Girls characters.
10. Luke Danes: ISFJ
If you don't want to go to Luke's Diner every day, can you even say that you love Gilmore Girls? Probably not. Luke Danes is a staple character on this lovely show.
Luke is sweet and great at running his business. He sounds just like the Myers-Briggs personality type ISFJ. He's quiet and responsible... but not as friendly as this type usually is. He also sounds like this description: "Committed and steady in meeting their obligations. Thorough, painstaking, and accurate. Loyal, considerate, notice and remember specifics about people who are important to them, concerned with how others feel". Luke may be a loveable grump but he cares about the people close to him (aka Rory and Lorelai).
9. Logan Huntzberger: ENTP
Oh, Logan Huntzberger. Let's try to chat about Rory's college boyfriend without getting into a great big argument about who she should have ended up with us. We know, we know, it's really tough not to do that, but let's restrain ourselves.
Logan is definitely an ENTP on the Myers-Briggs personality scale. He sounds just like this specific description: "Bored by routine, will seldom do the same thing the same way, apt to turn to one new interest after another".
Isn't this totally Logan?! He's so impulsive, whether he's playing pranks with The Life and Death Brigade or acting cavalier about his professional future.
8. Emily Gilmore: INTP
The Myers-Briggs personality type INTP is "Skeptical, sometimes critical, always analytical". That is basically Emily Gilmore to a T.
Emily is a hilarious and wonderful character. She's kind of an acquired taste because when she first appears on the show, it seems like she's being way too hard on Lorelai and it's tough to side with her whenever they have arguments. As the show goes on, fans realize that she's funny, witty, and most of all, strong. Sure, she may always be criticizing the people around her, from her husband Richard to her daughter Lorelai, and she may never be able to hire someone without immediately firing them. But her heart seems to be good underneath all that criticism.

7. Dean Forester: ISFP
Again, we're not going to say if we're on Team Dean or not, but we can admit that Dean Forester is a lovely person. He's sweet and he was a really good high school boyfriend for Rory.
He's just like the ISFP Myers-Briggs personality type: "Quiet, friendly, sensitive, and kind. Enjoy the present moment, what's going on around them... Loyal and committed to their values and to people who are important to them". He's always loyal to Rory, does his best to be a good partner to her, and seems pretty happy-go-lucky. He definitely doesn't worry as much about the future (or anything, really) as Rory does.
6. Paris Gellar: ENTJ
Love her or hate her, but it's tough not to admit that Paris Gellar is a huge part of the reason why Gilmore Girls is such a beloved show. Whether she's trying to sabotage Rory's chances at the Chilton newspaper or becoming enemy number one at the Yale newspaper (are we sensing a theme here?!), she's always got a strong work ethic and she knows how to get what she wants.
She's the Myers-Briggs personality ENTJ: "Frank, decisive, assume leadership readily.... Usually well informed, well read, enjoy expanding their knowledge and passing it on to others. Forceful in presenting their ideas". Yeah, that last point is absolutely Paris.
5. Taylor Doose: ESTJ
Taylor Doose may be loved by some fans and disliked by others, but no one can argue with the fact that he keeps Stars Hollow running smoothly. He's the mayor and speaks at every town hall meeting, and it's tough to imagine how anything would get done without him.
Taylor's Myers-Briggs personality would be ESTJ. He's exactly like the description: "Practical, realistic, matter-of-fact. Decisive, quickly move to implement decisions. Organize projects and people to get things done... Have a clear set of logical standards, systematically follow them and want others to also. Forceful in implementing their plans". When he gets an idea, the townsfolk know that he won't rest until he gets it into gear.
4. Jess Mariano: INTJ
Jess Mariano may seem snarky and like he's always in a bad mood, but fans know that he's got a good heart. Many Gilmore Girls fans are on Team Jess forever and it's because he and Rory have so much in common. They both love books and are both super intelligent.
When it comes to his Myers-Briggs personality, he's INTJ. This description is pure Jess: "Have original minds and great drive for implementing their ideas and achieving their goals... When committed, organize a job and carry it through. Skeptical and independent, have high standards of competence and performance - for themselves and others". He may seem like a lazy high school student since he skips school... but he skips school to go to his job.
3. Sookie St. James: INFP
Gilmore Girls fans love having seen Melissa McCarthy as chef, foodie, and Lorelai's BFF Sookie St. James before she started acting in blockbuster comedies. Sookie is, quite simply, the best. Whether she's designing an epic menu or making muffin tops, she's a great culinary artist and an awesome friend.
She sounds just like the Myers-Briggs personality INFP: "Idealistic, loyal to their values and to people who are important to them... Adaptable, flexible, and accepting unless a value is threatened". She's always there for Lorelai and the kind of pal who loves the person that you're dating... and promptly hates them as soon as you guys break up.
2. Rory Gilmore: ISTJ
Bookworm, writer, coffee fan, and the most famous TV daughter ever. Rory Gilmore is a lot of things, but most of all, she's a quiet hard-working gal who dreams big.
Her Myers-Briggs personality is ISTJ. She's "Quiet, serious, earn success by thoroughness and dependability. Practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible". The rest of this description is about being practical when there's something to do, and this personality type will "work toward it steadily, regardless of distractions". That's totally Rory: when she has set her mind on something, such as studying for an English test when she starts at the toughest school ever, Chilton, she's going to work super hard.
1. Lorelai Gilmore: ESFP
Lorelai Gilmore is the best mom, hilarious, clever, coffee-addicted, and never slows down enough to take a breath or talk at a normal speed. She's always entertaining and it's impossible to imagine Stars Hollow without her.
Lorelai Gilmore's Myers-Briggs personality type is definitely ESFP. The description couldn't sound more like Lorelai if it tried: "Outgoing, friendly, and accepting. Exuberant lovers of life, people, and material comforts. Enjoy working with others to make things happen... Flexible and spontaneous, adapt readily to new people and environments".
Lorelai isn't the kind of person that can be ignored, and that's why fans love her so much.
