Millie Bobby Brown, known for her role as Eleven on the hit Netflix original series Stranger Things, posted a series of photos of herself on Instagram rocking the classic space buns hairdo with her own twist—a set of ribbons tied around the buns. The look is so cute, it’s bound to inspire a new trend for fall.
“Maybe it’s in the colors,” the 13-year-old actress captioned the selfie that she posted on her Instagram story on Wednesday. In the photo, Brown was standing outside in a sunny field with her eyes closed and a smile on her face. Her hair was pulled into two small buns on the sides of her head. Wrapped around the buns were two thick, bright, pink floral-patterned ribbons. This is a look we could totally see telepathic, alternate-universe, kid hero Eleven wearing on Stranger Things (once her thick curls grow out a little longer, of course).
In addition to the close-up selfie on her story, Brown posted a set of photos on her feed that showed the whole outfit. The ribbon-wrapped space buns were paired with a massively oversized sweatshirt and a pair of dad-like white sneakers. Oh, and an adorable little white puppy. For Brown, the look was a celebration of the new season. "end of summer and onto a new chapter... a healed knee, new people, new adventures, different feelings, and a whole lotta puppy love,” she captioned the photo set.

The actress sported a similar but more elegant take on hairdo earlier this year at the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards. In January, Brown walked the red carpet in a ballerina-style look—a pink sequined dress paired with Converse, pink makeup, pink nails, and high space buns wrapped in a set of simple black ribbons.
Ribbons are kind of Brown’s thing—and sometimes she uses them to make more than just a fashion statement. At the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards, she accessorized her white dress with a small blue ribbon pinned at the top. The ribbon was a political statement for the American Civil Liberties Union. Alongside the ribbon, she also wore a light blue ampersand pin for Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). She wore the accessories all night, even when accepting her award on stage.
To achieve Brown’s space buns, Teen Vogue said to start by parting your hair down the middle. Then pull each side into pigtails on top of your head and twist them from root to end. Wrap the twists around your elastic and secure them with bobby pins. Finally, tie the buns with your choice of ribbons!
