This morning, Their Royal Highnesses travelled to Asni to meet students at the @efa_morocco boarding house in the Atlas Mountains. The organisation provides weekly accommodation to girls from rural areas, which allows them to remain in education into secondary school. This enables these young women to go on to achieve qualifications, study at university and pursue careers. 70% of women and girls in Morocco are illiterate. Many have limited access to secondary school or no means of affording transport to school. But these boarding houses provide a safe place for girls to live and study during the week. After looking around the dorms, The Duke and Duchess visited the Lycée Collegial Le Grand Atlas, which is the school the girls from the boarding houses attend, to meet students and their teachers. #RoyalVisitMorocco
The trip was scheduled just days after Meghan returned from her trip to New York City, where she celebrated her baby shower with friends that included Serena Williams, Abigail Spencer, Gayle King, Amal Clooney, and Jessica Mulroney, among others.
The baby shower was held at the penthouse of the Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side. The penthouse is listed at $75,000 per night. The room had been lavishly decorated with peonies and roses and also featured a cotton candy machine. The harpist Erin Hill offered a recital during the celebration.
While in New York, Meghan also had dinner with close friends. She is expected to have a second baby shower in London, where she will celebrate with family and friends, including Prince William and Kate Middleton. "She's very kind, she's very generous and a really sweet person. I think her friends just wanted to celebrate her," King said on CBS This Morning.
Meghan is currently in her third trimester and will give birth this spring.
