The famous Disney cartoon character Mickey Mouse turns 90 this year, and on October 31st, Maybelline announced that they would be collaborating with Disney on the Maybelline x Disney makeup collection to celebrate his birthday. You’re never too old to get excited about Disney characters, and if you’re planning a holiday visit to any of the Disney parks, these products are perfect for stashing in your makeup bag.
So, what’s included in this special new collection? First of all, all of the packaging is Mickey Mouse themed—with black and white checkered patterns, and, of course, the iconic mouse ears, any true Disney fan is sure to fall in love with this packaging. And what’s inside all of this cute packaging? There are two different versions of Maybelline’s popular The City Mini Palette, each containing six different shades of eyeshadow that can be used for casual daytime looks or dramatic smokey eyes for a night out. There is also the Super Moisturizing Complexion Perfector, which will be available in three different shades, and an adorable gift box with six different shades of mini lipsticks in unique collector’s tubes.
Maybelline is not the only cosmetics brand getting ready to celebrate Mickey’s 90th birthday. L’Oreal also released a Mickey Mouse cosmetics collection complete with an eyeshadow palette, eyeliner, mascara, makeup brushes, nail polish, and Mickey Mouse themed lipsticks with unique tubes featuring the mouse himself. Fans could also purchase a Mickey Mouse makeup bag from L’Oreal. However, this collection was limited edition, and it has since sold out—but there will be plenty of opportunities to get your hands on similar products this holiday season!
An official release date for the collection has not been announced yet, but since the first Mickey cartoon debuted on November 18th, 1918, it’s likely that the collection will be launched on the same day. Prices have not been announced either, but since Maybelline is generally an affordable brand, this collection should suit any budget. This collection will be limited edition, so if you want to try out these products, act fast and treat yourself to an early holiday present!
