After winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Shallow” earlier this year, Lady Gaga has had an amazing year. Now, the actress/singer/songwriter/icon may also add beauty mogul to her list of accomplishments.
Known for her avant-garde style and her jaw-dropping red carpet looks, Gaga seems like a natural fit for the beauty industry. Last year, the star filed for a trademark for Haus Beauty, which would give her the rights to foundations, blusher, lipstick, eye shadow, perfume, cleansers, toners, scrubs, moisturizers, and much more. Although not much more was known at the time, things seem to be moving forward now.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal recently reported that Gaga will launch Haus Beauty with a boutique on the Las Vegas strip next to the Park Theatre at the Park MGM Grand, where she currently has a residency. The publication says the boutique, which will be housed where merchandise for headliners used to be sold, will open in late May.
The beauty collection would undoubtedly be a collaboration with The Haus of Gaga, the singer’s personal creative team, which is responsible for her unique and individual style. The Haus creates most of her clothing, props, stage sets, and makeup for live performances and other visual representations of her work. Specifically, Frederic Aspiras is responsible for her hairstyles and Sarah Tanno is behind her flawless makeup.
Although this would be Gaga’s first official line, this isn’t the singer’s first beauty venture. She has previously partnered with MAC Cosmetics as the face of the Viva Glam initiative in 2009 and 2010. With MAC, she designed lipsticks and lip glosses to raise money for AIDS research. She also debuted a fragrance, Lady Gaga Fame, with Coty in 2012.
Gaga, of course, would not be the first celebrity to launch a beauty brand. There are numerous brands headed by high-profile celebrities, including Jessica Alba – The Honest Company, Miranda Kerr – Kora Organics, Kylie Jenner – Kylie Cosmetics, Iman – Iman Cosmetics, Rihanna – Fenty Beauty, Kim Kardashian – KKW Beauty, and Madonna – MDNA Skin.
However, Gaga, aside from Madonna and Rihanna, is one of the few celebrities to be on the forefront of fashion and makeup, therefore, it comes as no surprise that her beauty collection would be a cult favorite even before it’s announced.
Haus Beauty already has a website, hausbeauty.com, where fans can enter their email to presumably receive updates on the beauty collection.
