When Forbes predicted that Kylie Jenner was going to become the youngest self-made billionaire last summer just before her twenty-first birthday, a lot of people did not particularly agree with the term 'self-made'. Earlier this year Forbes published their ranking of billionaires for this year, and Kylie was officially listed as the youngest self-made billionaire, which, of course, made the conversation as to whether or not Kylie can be referred to as 'self-made' resurfaces as well. Kylie completely stands by describing her fortune as self-made, explaining that not a single penny in her bank account is inherited - she has earned it all through hard work.
In a recent interview with Interview Germany, the lip kit queen made it clear that there is no other way to put it than 'self-made' because that is simply the truth behind her massive fortune. Kylie shared that she has not received any money from her parents, Caitlyn and Kris Jenner, since she was fifteen, and was told at that age to start earning money for herself moving forward. The twenty-one-year-old does, however, call herself a special case, because of the platform her family's fame already gave her through the reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, before starting her business Kylie Cosmetics.
As reported by People, Kylie says she always believed in her brand Kylie Cosmetics, which started with three lip kits back in 2015, but that she would never have guessed the business would turn into what it is today. The mother of one is hoping to inspire young women to work hard to reach their dreams, and that there are no limits to what one can achieve.
It is essential to keep in mind that not all of Kylie's wealth is coming from Kylie Cosmetics, her empire is also built on paychecks from appearing on KUWTK, and from her many product endorsements and collaborations with different brands. At such a young age the youngest in the KarJenner klan has turned into quite the businesswoman, but she has a lot of role models in terms of business within her own family.
While the term 'self-made' might feel a bit off when it comes to someone who was already in possession of the platform, the contacts, and the fans, it is still a lot of hard work behind turning three lip kits into a full-blown makeup empire.
