Kristen Stewart, 29, is perhaps best known for her role in the Twilight series where she starred opposite her boyfriend at the time, Robert Pattinson, 33. The couple, who has gone on to star in critically-acclaimed films on their own, called it quits back in 2013 after Stewart was photographed getting intimate with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, 48.

Since then, the actress, who has come out as bisexual, has had relationships with visual effects producer Alicia Cargile, French singer Soko, and musician Annie Clark, known professionally as St. Vincent. Afterward, she had an on again-off again relationship with New Zealand model Stella Maxwell.

Recently, however, the actress, who was just 18 when Twilight debuted, has spoken about her romance with Pattinson in an interview with Howard Stern. Stewart explained how the impact that the constant scrutiny she was subjected to by the paparazzi, who she referred to as "thieves," took its toll on her relationship. She said the couple wanted to "keep it ours," referring to the romance, and struggled with whether to share it publicly or "put it on lock."

"But then you deprive yourself of so many experiences," Stewart told Stern. "We didn't walk down the street holding hands because we were like, 'We don't wanna give it to 'em.' But then, we didn't get to walk down the street holding hands, and it sucked."

Stern stated that he believed that falling in love on set was the "biggest mistake," yet Stewart said there was "nothing I could do." The Charlie's Angels star added that it's "weird" being open about her relationship with Pattinson, and that she's never really been in a position to "say what happened."

"Because I was so self-conscious about seeming like an attention-seeker," Stewart said. "We were together for years, that was my first [love]. He's the best." Regarding speculation that their relationship was fake, Stewart says, "You really think at this point, after all these years, that's how I live my life?"

Stern then asked Stewart, "Was there a point you would've gotten married? Do you think?" To which she responded, "I don't know. I wanted to...yeah, no, I've never been in..." Then Stern asked, "If he proposed, you would've gotten married." To which she responded, "I don't know. I'm not a super-duper traditionalist, but at the same time...every relationship I've ever been in, I thought that was it. I've never really been the most casual person."

When asked if she believes she'll get married one day, Stewart—who is currently dating Dylan Meyer after breaking up with Stella Maxwell — says she will "for sure." She even says she has a future proposal in mind, but she’s yet to buy the ring. "Are you in love right now?" Stern asked. "Yeah...the answer is yes," adding that she'll "absolutely" propose at some point. "I can't f--king wait."
