Kelly Clarkson was the epitome of a fan girl when she met Meryl Streep on the red carpet for the first time.

The American Idol alum screamed as she spotted Streep a couple of feet from her. She was leaving an interview with E!'s Ryan Seacrest when she let out the curling cry.

Seacrest thought the singer had tripped in her beautiful gown but that was not the case at all. Clarkson went up to the Oscar winner and asked if she could meet her. The entire fan moment was captured on video since the E! cameras were rolling. Streep was endearing and sweet as she introduced herself to the singer. Actress Michelle Williams witnessed the meeting and is seen photo bombing the moment with a smile on her face.

Today, Clarkson is still talking about the moment she got to meet one of her idols.

“I don't even think she knew who I was,” she said during NBC’s winter press day.

Whether she knew who the singer was didn’t seem to matter to the actress. The Post star didn’t hesitate to embrace Clarkson during the sweet and powerful moment. It was more than a fan moment. The exchange fit right in with the night’s theme of empowering women. Some might even say it helped kick off the night in stride.

The "Stronger" singer shared that she forgot to introduce herself to Streep. She also talked about how she had to give a shout out to the other amazing and talented woman watching her crazy encounter with the legendary actress.

"Then I felt horrible with Michelle Williams and the other women standing there. I was like, 'I love y'all too!'” she exclaimed.
