Justin Theroux is getting the best kind of therapy for his recent split with Jennifer Aniston: puppies.

Writer, producer, and actor Justin Theroux announced his separation with Jennifer Aniston after 7 years together and 2-and-a-half years married. Although the separation appears to be amicable, there must be some bitter feelings after the split since Theroux went to the best place possible to receive some unconditional love.

In his first post to Instagram since the split, the 49-year-old featured pictures of his latest visit to Austin Pets Alive, a nonprofit no-kill animal shelter in Austin, Texas. There he met some adorable newborn pitbull puppies with one getting up close and personal by biting Theroux on the nose.

"Texas!!!” Theroux wrote. “Another very inspiring visit with the incredible people and pups @austinpetsalive. I cannot understand how they do what they do, day after day, so consistently and lovingly to save so many dogs and cats. I HIGHLY recommend going in and getting your nose bit by a toothless baby pitbull. Thes two aren’t yet ready to go, but when they are go get em...??”

The Zoolander 2 writer also couldn’t help but point out there’s more than one shelter in the great state of Texas. “Oh! And hey Houston! You have a Pets Alive no-kill shelter there too! @houstonpetsalive. Thank you APA!"

Theroux ended the post by tagging Selena Gomez, who owns six rescue dogs and is friends with Aniston.

While working on the set of HBO series The Leftovers Theroux became involved with Austin Pets Alive, making several tweets on social media and even donating $10,000 to the shelter after winning the “Hot Hands” game on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

News of Theroux’s split with Aniston came after months of speculation. Aniston and Theroux hadn’t been seen together for some time, and both seemed to appear separately at formal function and parties. Then, Aniston’s publicist eventually released a statement confirming their separation.

“In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation,” said longtime Aniston publicist Stephen Huvane. “This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.”

Theroux appears in the Netflix movie Mute, available now.
