Blondes have more fun, but redheads really know how to make a statement. If there’s anyone who can make a case for that assessment, it’s Dancing With the Stars alumna Julianne Hough who’s wowing fans on Instagram with her radical new do.
"I have never felt more like ME than I do right now!" commented Hough on social media. Even though she's defined as much by her golden tresses as she is by her fancy dance moves, funnily enough, Hough believes she's been a redhead all her life. She believes that if she had a daughter, she'd likely be sporting crimson strands, as well. But after years of considering the change, she finally did it and is loving it.
The change comes on the heels of another life-changing decision: marrying professional hockey player Brooks Laich last July. Not coincidentally, her cosmetic change took place on Valentine's Day. The reaction? Fans also dig the modification, and even a few media scribes have compared her appearance to that of Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid.
Nominated twice for an Emmy for her choreography on Dancing With The Stars, Hough hasn't been doing much on the dance floor since she got married. Instead, she's become an advocate for raising awareness about endometriosis, a painful uterine disorder that affects roughly 10 percent of women during their reproductive years. She's spearheading a campaign called SpeakENDO to help make women more knowledgeable about the disease.
Fans will also get a chance to see Hough on the silver screen this year in the motion picture Bigger, a biopic on fitness pioneers Joe and Ben Weider. In it she plays Betty Weider, wife of Joe, portrayed by Tyler Hoechlin. Tom Arnold and Steve Guttenberg also star in the flick, which also includes a portrayal of a young Arnold Schwarzenegger by Australian actor Calum Von Moger.
Hough is slated to appear in another forthcoming movie, One Hit Wendy. She has also starred opposite Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages, Josh Duhamel in Safe Haven, and had parts in the TV series Speechless and the TV special Grease Live! And let's not forget the Julianne Hough for Sole Society footwear line she created with designer Vince Camuto in 2012, which she still administers.
For someone who became a redhead, Hough certainly has quite a lot of blonde ambition.
