Julianne Hough is known to be a triple threat: she's a dancer, actor and country music singer. But she has had the most success as a professional dancer. We have seen her rise to success on the popular show Dancing With The Stars, and she even appeared on the show as a judge on occasion. At one point, she was the girlfriend of host Ryan Seacrest but is now married to a professional hockey player, Brooks Laich. She has been in a few movies over the years, such as Burlesque and Safe Haven, and she has released a couple of country music albums. There are tons of things that we don’t know about this successful dancer.

She is fit and gorgeous and seems to be heading for real stardom, at least in the arena of dancing. She has come a long way over the years and seems to be coming into her own. She has done a lot considering she is only 30 years old and has her whole life ahead of her. We have all the facts for fans that she usually keeps to herself, things that she might not want everyone to know. Check out these 20 things that Julianne Hough keeps on the DL.

20 She’s Been Involved With Dance Partners In The Past

There has been a lot of talk over the years about Julianne Hough being involved with her dance partners, and at one point it was with a taken man. During Season 5 of DWTS, it was pretty obvious that she had great chemistry with Hélio Castroneves because he planted a kiss on her during one of their performances.

It was no coincidence that days after the show ended, so did Castroneves' engagement. Hough broke off her own engagement to dancer Zach Wilson after more talk circulated of her being involved with her other dance partner, Apolo Ohno.

19 She’s Not A Fan Of Amber Rose

It’s inevitable that at some point certain celebrities aren’t going to get along in Hollywood. Amber Rose was a contestant on DWTS and at the time Julianne Hough was one of the judges. She served up some criticism to Rose that many fans thought was unkind.

Hough felt that Rose was way too attached to her partner, saying, "I actually feel a little uncomfortable." Rose fired back on her "Loveline With Amber Rose" podcast, saying, "It was a point in the dance where I had to lift my leg up and Maks dipped me and [Julianne] said, 'Oh, I'm uncomfortable,' and instantly I felt — I did feel body-shamed."

18 Ryan Seacrest Couldn’t Keep Up With Her Lifestyle

A lot of people believe that it was Ryan Seacrest who ended his relationship with Julianne because she was a little too wild for his taste. A source close to the host told The National Enquirer,

"Ryan tried his best to keep up with Julianne, but in the end, he just couldn't. He's older, already established and set in his ways, and he was getting tired of telling her to... stop overindulging. They constantly fought because he wanted her to slow down and she wanted him to lighten up and enjoy life more. [Seacrest] couldn't stand to watch her throw her life away."

17 Fans Weren’t Impressed That She Overshared Her Honeymoon

Most celebrities want to be left alone and unplug during their holiday, especially if it’s their honeymoon. Usually, fans aren’t lucky enough to get to see everything that happens on a honeymoon. That is unless you are a fan of Julianne Hough who posted every aspect of her honeymoon, including backless photos, champagne toasts and every relaxing moment with her new husband.

"We had a lot of photos that we took for our private collection, for sure," Hough told People magazine. "But at the same time, a lot of people were like, 'That should be your private time.'"

16 She Discovered That She Has Endometriosis

When she was younger, Julianne Hough discovered that she has endometriosis, which is a condition many women have. "I first started experiencing symptoms back when I was 15, but I thought it was just what it feels like to be a girl with bad periods," Julianne told Women’s Health. "I didn't think to go to the gynecologist. Because I’m a competitor, I felt like I had to push through the pain and just work."

It wasn’t until she was performing on Dancing With The Stars that she realized it was a real problem. "I went to the ER and nobody could tell me what was wrong with me," she added.

15 She Was Forced To Grow Up Too Fast

Julianne experienced something traumatic growing up that forced her to grow up fast. She received a five-year dance scholarship at Italia Conti Academy of Arts, a school that her brother was enrolled in. She was only 10 at the time and it was not a good experience for her.

She was “abused mentally, physically, everything” during her time there. “I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer,” Hough revealed to Cosmopolitan. “I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this...facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love.”

14 She Wasn’t Fully Invested In Ryan Seacrest

Julianne Hough dated Ryan Seacrest for three years and she stated that she wasn’t really invested in the relationship, which is surprising considering they were together for such a long time. But she was in her 20s so it’s possible that she didn’t take it seriously.

She spoke about it to Redbook and it was a little harsh. “I had one foot out because I didn't want to get hurt," she said. "And I didn't say what was on my mind because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect."

13 She Has Trouble Living In The Moment

Julianne Hough is in a great relationship with her husband Brooks Laich but we’ve noticed in interviews that she has a hard time living in the moment and instead will state how she is looking forward to the next moment before it even happens.

"I think I wrote something about it recently, but I cannot wait to even imagine [and] to feel the kind of love I have for him in 20 years or 30. It's gonna be so deep…" she told Entertainment Tonight.

She should be living in the moment instead of being so fixated on future moments.

12 She Dissed Fellow Dancer Mark Ballas

Hough has known fellow dancer Mark Ballas since they were both kids and they have always been close. But that didn’t stop her from critiquing his performance when she appeared as a judge during a 2013 season of Dancing With The Stars.

Ballas was dancing with Christina Milian and Hough suggested that Ballas was hogging the spotlight. "I really want to see [Milian] shine. I've danced with Mark. You have to stand in front to make sure you're seen,” she said. Sources told US Weekly that Ballas was “furious” over what Hough had said. She called it "constructive criticism so that they can get better for next week."

11 Her Films Have All Done Badly At The Box Office

She may have been in a Harry Potter movie once but her acting credits have grown since then. She actually left DWTS in 2008 because she wanted to try her hand at being a country music star but that didn’t go as planned. Next, she tried acting. She certainly has had steady work in Hollywood over the years but most of her projects have been judged harshly by critics.

Her most notable works seem to be Burlesque, Safe Haven and Dirty Grandpa, but none of them did very well at the box office and reviews were harsh. She did get good reviews when she did the musical Grease Live on FOX, though.

10 She Was Raised In A Strict Household

Hough was raised in a strict household that was very religious. She and her siblings had a lot of rules growing up, which even included no caffeine or R-rated movies. When she moved to Los Angeles, it’s no surprise that she started to let loose.

"I didn't drink when I first came to Hollywood," she told the New York Post. "[Now] I don't think it's going to define who I am if I am at Chateau Marmont having a glass of wine."

She no longer practices the faith that she grew up with and has done things that would probably make her parents' hair stand on end.

9 She Was The Laziest Bride Ever

When she finally got engaged, Hough didn’t rush out and start planning the wedding. In fact, she almost did nothing when it came to preparation and even procrastinated about the whole thing. Most brides would want to lock down a location and start looking for a dress, but she chose to do things a little differently.

“We kind of just started [planning], and we were like, ‘You know what? Let’s just chill. Let’s just enjoy the engagement process and the fun of it.’ So we haven’t really gotten into it,” she told Us Weekly. “We’re kind of [bad].”

8 She And Derek Were In A Pop Group Together

Julianne and her brother Derek tried to start a pop band when they were younger with their good friend Mark Ballas. It was the '90s and boy bands were on the rise so they thought they would throw their cards into the pile. This was during their time at the Italia Conti Academy of Arts. They named the band 2B1G short for 2 Boys 1 Girl which probably had a lot to do with why they didn’t make it.

Julianne laughed about their band in an interview with People, saying, “We had the corniest songs,” she told the magazine. “We had a song called ‘L-O-V-E Y-O-U,’ and we spelled it out with our hands.”

7 She Let The Camera Roll When Her Family Got Seasick

Julianne Hough has no problem embarrassing family members during their most vulnerable moments. While on vacation with her family, her sister and mother developed seasickness and were literally vomiting over the side of the boat. Hough took it upon herself to videotape the whole thing and then post it on her social media.

She even stated how pleased she was to find out the paparazzi got it on camera too. "When you get so annoyed that paparazzi found you on vacation but then kind of get excited that they captured this moment! I'm a good sister, I videoed the whole thing," she captioned her post, according to The Huffington Post. Not cool.

6 She Expects To Be In The Honeymoon Phase Forever

Who doesn’t love the honeymoon stage in a marriage? We would love it to always be like that but it rarely ever is and that’s because we get comfortable in a relationship and certain things fall away. Julianne Hough may not have realistic expectations for her marriage because she assumes the honeymoon stage is a forever thing.

"I hope we're in the honeymoon stage forever," she told InStyle. "Really, you can create whatever phase you want, and I think we both realize that the life that we want to live is the honeymoon phase."

5 She Set Her Best Friend Up With Her Brother

Her best friend is actress Nina Dobrev and she thought the best thing ever would be if her best friend got together with her brother, Derek. But situations like that rarely work out. However, since Nina was spending so much time with Julianne she managed to fall for Derek and the two started dating.

"[Nina] was hanging a lot with Derek's sister Julianne. Then she fell for him," a source told US Weekly. It didn’t last very long, however, and the two went their separate ways only six weeks later, citing long distance being the issue.

4 She Was In A Harry Potter Movie As A Kid

You may not realize that Julianne Hough’s acting career started at a young age. She appeared in the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. She was by no means an important part, she was just an extra hired to play one of the Gryffindors. Now that you know that she’s in it, you might be tempted to go and see if you can spot her but Hough warns, “don’t blink or you’ll miss me!”

She was only 13 years old at the time but as you can see she already had the gorgeous look that we have come to know.

3 Her Entire Family Are Dancers

We know that Julianne and her brother Derek are accomplished dancers with successful careers in Hollywood, but they aren’t the only dancers in the family. Both her parents were dancers so you know that’s how it all started, and all five siblings also know how to dance. Both sets of their grandparents were also dancers, so there is a long line of dancers in the family.

Julianne started her career in dancing at the Center Stage Performing Arts Studio in Utah and she was dancing competitively by the age of nine.

2 She Had To Learn To Listen To Her Body

Discovering that she had endometriosis meant that Julianne Hough had to learn to listen to her body. Sometimes she had to choose not to exercise or even work so that she could take care of herself because she would often be in a lot of pain. Moving her body is important to her even if it’s just standing or walking around.

"If I feel stagnant, then my body’s stagnant, and then my insides feel stagnant," she told People. "Even if I don’t want to move or exercise, I just stand with my hands on my abdomen, move my hips, and send love to my pelvic area."

1 She Has To Remind Her Husband That They Are On The Same Team

Everyone fights, regardless of how magical they think their marriage is. But it’s how you deal with those arguments that will determine whether you have staying power as a couple. Julianne Hough and her husband have a not-so-secret code phrase - “same team” - that they use when they feel they need to remind each other that they are on the same team.

She told Redbook magazine, "So if one of us feels we need to have a 'conversation,' we preface it with that. Like: 'Hey, same team. I love you, but you hurt my feelings.' So the other person goes into it with an open mind, versus being immediately defensive. And we celebrate every little victory.”
