John Legend, who turned 40 on December 28, celebrated the milestone with his love Chrissy Teigen at an over-the-top Casino Royale-inspired party that she helped organize along with party planner Lisa Vorce. The festivities held this past weekend were also a reunion of sorts as the Legend-Teigens got together with the Kardashian-Wests.
The EGOT winner, who doesn’t look a day over 30, marked the start of his fourth decade at the couple’s home in Beverly Hills. The whole family was on hand to help blow out the candles with son Miles, 9 months, sporting a black tuxedo and daughter Luna, 2, wearing a white and gold dress. Legend himself wore the perfect James Bond white tuxedo, while Teigen looked stunning in a strapless Cristina Ottaviano gold gown and Amwaj diamonds.

Saturday night, my amazing wife threw me the most incredible 40th birthday party I could imagine! So good to be surrounded by family and loved ones. I had the time of my life. I'm so grateful. And the photo booth? The greatest of all time (in the Instagram era, that's like 90% of party planning, right?)
The model and author, 33, asked Instagram for help to get Miles, who she refers to as “mini-John,” dressed. She posted pics of the adorable baby in white and black tuxedos. Finally, the black tux won with 60 percent of the votes. A great choice considering dad was already wearing a white tux.
Teigen also wished her hubby a happy birthday online, posting, “Happy 40th birthday to the most incredible man. The best father, hardest worker, best lover, best friend I could ever imagine. Every day I am grateful for how much you love us and how much you both say it and show it. You are one of a kind. I am grateful to your family for creating and raising such a pure, sweet, brilliant man. The world has been blessed by your 40 years on this planet. I love you. I showed you that this morning BOOYAHHHH.”
Other attendees included A-listers such as Angela Bassett and husband Courtney Vance and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita, as well as celebs like Kris Jenner and boyfriend Corey Gamble, Kourtney Kardashian, Fai Khadra, Stephanie Shepherd, Simon Huck, Aisha Hinds, Amirah Vann, Brandon Victor Dixon, Yvonne Orji, and Miguel and Nazanin Mandi. Guests posed at a roulette table overflowing with chips and cash where Kim made herself at home by hopping on in a seemingly see-through black lace jumpsuit, while Kanye stood behind her with a stogie in his mouth.
The rest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan was notably absent, yet the party seemed to be a resounding success, though Teigen lamented the next day, “Why oh why God did I agree to the people or critics’ choice whatever it is the night after John’s party this was a big mistake huge yes this is a fancy problem.” Ah, the perils of fame and fortune.
On Monday, Legend thanked Teigen for the party on Instagram, writing, “Saturday night, my amazing wife threw me the most incredible 40th birthday party I could imagine! So good to be surrounded by family and loved ones. I had the time of my life. I’m so grateful. And the photo booth? The greatest of all time (in the Instagram era, that’s like 90% of party planning, right?)”
