For her 50th birthday this year, Jennifer Aniston gathered six of her besties for a weekend getaway to Mexico. The ‘Friends’ actress told the New York Times that she and her closest friends take part in a goddess circle ritual, which they have been performing for more than 30 years.

The tradition has been observed during major life events in the actress' life, such as her weddings to Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux. This year’s ritual was all about embracing turning 50 and appreciating how far they’ve come. "It's so weird. There's so much doom around that number," she told the NYT.

During the ritual, the women sit cross-legged on the floor, pass around a feather-decorated stick and share their intentions. Andrea Bendewald, Courteney Cox and Molly Kimmel reportedly traveled to Mexico with Aniston and participated in the ceremony. The gathering seemingly allows women to feel empowered by their accomplishments.

"I'm entering into what I feel is one of the most creatively fulfilling periods of my life," Aniston revealed. "I've been doing this for 30 years and I feel like it's just about to really bloom."

According to C. Ara Campbell, author of author Original Resistance: Reclaiming Lilith, Reclaiming Ourselves, the goddess circle is about reclaiming the powerful feminine energy that surrounds all women and embodying truth and your highest purpose, as well as awakening your gifts, inspiring your creativity, and moving towards sacred unity in the world.

Aniston does seem to be entering her prime. She will star in a new Apple's series, The Morning Show alongside Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell. Also, both Aniston and Witherspoon will executive produce the show. "It's taken time for me to get where I am and I put a lot of work into my craft," she said. "I've failed. I've succeeded. I've overcome. I've, you know, I've stayed around. I'm still here."

Although she's had a great career, Aniston has been less fortunate in love. She met Brad Pitt in 1998 and they married after two years of dating in 2000. Despite seeming to be a perfect match, in 2005, they announced their separation and finalized their divorce later that year. Although there were rumors that Pitt had been unfaithful with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie, whom he began dating shortly after his divorce, Aniston said in a January 2015 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "Nobody did anything wrong... It was just like, sometimes things [happen]."

In 2011, Aniston started dating actor, director, and screenwriter Justin Theroux. After getting engaged a year later, they got married in 2015. They separated two years later and divorced this year.
