Everybody’s favorite YouTube duo, Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson, are working on a new web series. The pair have been teasing a new show for a while now, after having worked on The Secret World of Jeffree Star together. This weekend, however, they revealed that they’ve already started filming.
The new project will reportedly be something that’s never been seen before, and knowing Star, that could be anything. For the first show, Dawson and his cameraman Andrew Siwicki followed Star to the Morphe Outlet in the Arden Fair Mall where he hosted a meet and greet with fans.
Star and Dawson have revealed quite a bit in the past and Dawson has helped humanize Star by showing a different side of the makeup maven as well as his work ethic. The beauty guru, who owns several companies, has been criticized in the past for being overly hostile towards his fellow cosmetics industry colleagues. Fans also had a chance to learn about Star’s rough childhood in which he lost his father to suicide at six and had taken to harming himself.
Dawson, who was one of the first YouTubers to rise to fame, began making videos at 19 in 2008. Two years later, he had over half a billion views on his channel. As a child, he was overweight and was mentally and physically abused by his father, who was an alcoholic. The two have since reconciled.
The two YouTubers, who both live in Calabasas, home of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, released The Secret World of Jeffree Star last summer. The five-part series, which included interviews with Star as well as an inside look into his unconventional life and his business Jeffree Star Cosmetics, had more than 70 million views in the first two weeks.
Star, who founded his e-commerce makeup brand in 2014, used his life savings to start his business. Thanks to the success of his YouTube channel, which has more than 11 million subscribers and over 1.2 billion views, he has been able to actively promote his brand of cosmetics, which includes velour liquid lipsticks, highlighter palettes, lip scrubs, eyeshadow palettes, clothing, and accessories, such as mirrors and makeup bags.
