Victoria’s Secret Angels and models Irina Shayk and Stella Maxwell recently teamed up with French brand The Kooples to design two new handbags reflective of their own personal styles. Shayk and Maxwell have also been named the faces of The Kooples’ fall 2018 campaign, which began in August with a set of photos shot in New York City.
Maxwell’s bag, called Stella by The Kooples, is inspired by her punk-rock-meets-trendy aesthetic. The handbag features calf-skin leather, studs, a metal handle, a magnetic medallion clasp, jewel detailing, and pyramid quilting. It is available in three sizes—mini, medium, and large—and features plenty of pockets in various sizes for extra organization. Stella by The Kooples will be available in plain black, black with silver studs, burgundy with gold studs, plain pink, and plain yellow. “There was no limit in the creative possibilities throughout the whole process,” the New Zealand-born model said in an interview with Vogue.
Shayk designed her bag, Irinia by The Kooples, with a Russian doll in mind, drawing from her Russian roots. A concealed mirror, perfect for every girl on-the-go, can be found in the soft-grained leather. The outside of the bag features a padlock and key for the clasp and comes in a variety of finishes, such as suede, leather, and crocodile. Irina by The Kooples will offer three sizes as well—called nano, medium, and maxi—and will come in red, plain black, studded black, yellow, and a special leopard print. “They gave me a lot of creative freedom in designing a bag that not only I would wear, but is also convenient to the life I lead,” Shayk told Elle.
The models debuted their new handbags in a New York City-based photoshoot done by photographer Jason Lee Parry. Shayk and Maxwell posed in tights, combat boots, and a variety of dresses and coats while standing on a rooftop or by a car or in an empty city street. Each photo, of course, featured the girls sporting the new designs and proving that their handbags worked with basically any outfit. The Kooples also released a video of the girls galivanting through New York, laughing together with the designs hanging on their shoulders.
