Fashion retailer Hot Topic has released an eyeshadow palette paying homage to the 90's cult movie Clueless, and it will make any Clueless fan squeal with excitement. Now, this is not the first nostalgia inspired beauty item the pop culture influenced retailer has launched. Hot Topic has previously also dropped a Nickelodeon eyeshadow palette as well as palettes inspired by the movie and novel Ready Player One, and the popular TV shows Riverdale and Supernatural.
Hot Topic's latest nostalgia beauty item is called 'Clueless Totally Buggin' Eyeshadow Palette', named after the Clueless heroine Cher Horowitz epic line in the movie. The palette consists of twelve different shades, six mattes and six shimmery, with colors ranging from soft pinks and purples, muted yellows to a silver glitter, vibrant turquoise and deep red. The eyeshadow colors are aptly named after lines and people in Clueless, such as 'Dee' after Cher's best friend, 'Homies' from the song Rolling With The Homies, 'Ugh, As if' and 'Makeover' from the classic makeover scene. It is safe to say that any Clueless fan will feel right at home.
As reported by Allure, not only the names of the shades, but the entire palette is full of fun Clueless references. The palette itself is designed to look like Cher's notebook, and the inside of the palette display the quotes 'You're a total Betty' and 'Some people are not lucky enough to be as naturally adorable as you are'. Furthermore, the eyeshadow brush that comes along with the Clueless Totally Buggin' palette resembles Cher's pink marabou feather pen from the classroom scene.
Clueless is one of the biggest 90's cult movies, and the plot is loosely based on the Jane Austin novel Emma. Alicia Silverstone, recently seen as the lead role in Paramount's American Woman, plays the main character Cher, but also noticeable in the cast is the late Brittany Murphy.
Hot Topic's Clueless Totally Buggin' Eyeshadow Palette retails for $16.90, which is a great price for a twelve pan eyeshadow palette compared to many other palettes that cost around $40. For those hardcore Clueless fans or anyone in love with everything '90s, this palette is a must-have. The cute design also means it will look super chic on the vanity, and with the holidays being over it might be time for a little self-pampering - without breaking the bank.
