Polly Pocket, the line of dolls and accessories sold by Mattel, was relaunched last year after being discontinued in the US in 2012. Now, the toy brand has authorized Hot Topic, which specializes in licensed makeup collection, to introduce a Polly Pocket collection.

On January 16, Hot Topic will debut a 17-piece Polly Pocket collection, which will include a mini backpack, wallets, pins, and of course, makeup, to commemorate the iconic doll's 30th anniversary. Polly Pocket was designed by Chris Wiggs in 1983 for his daughter Kate. Wiggs used a powder compact to create a tiny house for the miniature doll. Though details regarding the specific makeup products are limited, the Hot Topic collection will include a lip palette in four different shades, from bright pink to red to neutrals, that will retail for $14.90. The lip palette comes with Polly Pocket brushes.

In 2017, Lime Crime released a line of Polly Pocket-inspired compacts named Pocket Candy Palettes, which paid tribute to the 90s trend with shades like Sugar Plum, Bubble Gum and Pink Lemonade. The collection, however, did not feature Polly.

Hot Topic, which seems to be determined to leave no retro-stone unturned, has launched collections inspired by Disney, Hello Kitty, Beetlejuice and Clueless. The company, founded by Orv Madden in Montclair, California, in 1989 actively supports music and arts programs for young people through its Hot Topic Foundation. Over the last ten years, the foundation has given more than $9 million in grants to non-profit organizations that help enrich young lives. Currently, the company has an estimated annual revenue of almost $336 million dollars. Its main competitor is Funko.

Recently, celebrity makeup artist Quinn Murphy, whose client list includes Natalie Portman, Cara Delevingne, Amber Heard and Kiernan Shipka, revealed that other '90s beauty trends are also set to make a comeback in 2019. These include matte foundation, black eyeliner, natural eyebrows, and brown lipstick, which should be somewhere between a true brown shade and a person's natural lip color. Quinn also predicts that the Kim Kardashian West contour is on its way out and that the new trend is about framing the face with warmer tones.
