Following a weekend of heated internet speculation, it is now confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is indeed pregnant.
As Kensington Palace revealed in a statement this morning, the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex are ‘very pleased’ to reveal that they are expecting a baby in Spring 2019.The happy news comes on the very first day of the Harry and Meghan royal tour Down Under with 76 royal engagements on their calendar, including watching Harry’s Invictus Games.
Family members including the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be ‘delighted’ for Harry and Meghan.
The internet went abuzz last Friday when Meghan attended Princess Eugenie’s wedding at Windsor Castle, wearing a loose-fitting Givenchy ensemble. The Duchess kept her elegant navy blue coat buttoned-up during the entire ceremony, instantly igniting pregnancy rumors.
Fans on Twitter rambled on about Meghan’s covered-up figure and waist that wasn’t cinched in, as per her usual style. The conservative look, which according to Sunday Express was worth in total an eye-watering £14,055, left royal watchers baffled, with many predicting the upcoming royal baby announcement.
Internet sleuths also pointed to Meghan’s unusual ‘glow’ and her ‘fuller’ face as telltale signs of early pregnancy. Naturally, Twitter is alight again today, cheering Meghan’s baby bump.On top of that, E! reported that the former actress won’t join Harry to Fiji during their first Royal tour together to Australia, as it was originally planned because of reports of Zika virus spreading in the country, which could potentially be harmful to pregnant women.
However, a spokesman for the Royal family has declared this untrue and confirmed that the Duchess will visit Fiji and Tonga with Harry, after taking proper medical advice, the Telegraph recently revealed. Moreover, according to royal sources, Meghan has already had her 12-week scan and is ‘feeling well’.
We are just so relieved to hear that Meghan’s mystery coat wasn’t covering up a FUPA of shepherd’s pie and ale, but the baby we’ve all been eagerly waiting for.
The loved-up couple will head back to their home base in England on November 1st.
