Gucci’s makeup collection debuted in 2014. Spearheaded by ex-creative director Frida Giannini and renowned makeup artist Pat McGrath, the collection featured everything from lipstick to eyeshadow, as well as several makeup artist-approved face products, like foundation and blush.

Though the formulas were well-received, and the packaging was lavish, Gucci Beauty quickly disappeared, replaced by brands like Glossier, Huda Beauty and Too Faced. Now, according to Vogue, the iconic Italian fashion house will reintroduce its makeup collection this month with much fanfare.

Headed by creative director Alessandro Michele, the makeup line will feature the New Lipstick Collection with 58 different shades and textures, including liquid, matte and satin. Gucci's recent Fashion Week beauty looks showcased a range of balmy nudes and bold reds. The new lipsticks are divided into three finishes: Rouge à Lèvres Satin, a satin finish; Rouge à Lèvres Voile, a sheer finish; and Baume à Lèvres, a lip balm with a translucent finish.

For the makeup collection, Gucci is reportedly collaborating with celebrated makeup artist, Thomas de Kluyver, who is famous for his cutting-edge beauty looks. As for models, expect to see Dani Miller, the lead singer in Brooklyn-based punk band Surfbort, and Gucci model Mae Lapres sporting the latest lipstick shades.

"Make-up is something poetic and fleeting that you can add to your face, changing or highlighting something about yourself," Michele told WWD this week. "I find it an almost magical language, strongly linked to the other details I use for the expression of the self, such as jewelry and a hairstyle. Of all these aspects needed to emphasize or underline an aspect of ourselves, makeup is the most immediate and the oldest way, making it the most fascinating."

Michele took over at Gucci four years ago and has been vital in reenergizing the brand to both commercial and critical acclaim, with makeup being the latest project he oversees. Michele, 47, began his design career at Fendi where he was Senior Accessories Designer. He was recruited by Tom Ford in 2002 and moved to Gucci's London-based design office. During his 12 years at the Gucci design studio, he has held a variety of roles: in 2006 he was named Leather Goods Design Director and promoted in May 2011 as Associate to then Creative Director Frida Giannini.

The new collection will reflect Gucci's classic yet revolutionary fashion and fragrance influences. Their bestselling perfume, Gucci Bloom, and the recently released The Alchemist's Garden collection of candles and scents, feature a somewhat vintage feel. Being Gucci, though, expect some gold patterns as well.
