Glossier's Latest Skincare Innovation Literally Erases Pimples

Affordable beauty brand Glossier has finally created the product we all wish we had in junior high—a fast-acting pimple eraser. And by fast, they mean really fast. The Zit Stick Breakout Eraser is said to reduce acne after just one use and completely clear breakouts within 24 hours. Plus, it’s portable, easy to use, and won’t break the bank.

Glossier’s Zit Stick ($14) acts in a similar way to stain-removing pens. The spot-treatment stick has a stainless-steel roller ball tip that glides over the skin to prevent bacteria growth and easily apply a clearing formula. According to Glossier, their formula includes key ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, which targets acne-causing germs and reduces redness and swelling; capryloyl salicylic acid, which reduces stress on the skin; and tea tree oil, which is a natural oil known to have healing properties.

In a clinical trial, Glossier found acne to be reduced for 83 percent of tested Zit Stick users just three hours after a single application. After six hours, users reported reduced swelling, redness, and pain, which made the acne less noticeable overall. Finally, after 24 hours, 4 out of 5 subjects reported that more than half of their pimples had been completely erased. The swelling was eliminated, and the acne cleared much faster than normal.

The Zit Stick should be used at the first sign of a pimple. When using the Zit Stick for the first time, Glossier suggested twisting the pen at least 16 full turns to get the formula flowing. Then click the pen about 3-6 times until the formula covers the roller ball. Glide the pen directly over the zit and wait a few seconds for the formula to dry to a translucent finish. For the best results, use the pen up to three times per day. It is important to note that benzoyl peroxide products do make skin a bit more sensitive to the sun, so you should wear sunscreen after applying the Zit Stick.

Glossier’s Zit Stick can be used on-the-go, any time of day, no matter what products are already on your skin. According to Refinery29, the roller-ball tip is designed to gently glide over the surface of the skin without disrupting it. So, even if you’ve already applied cover-up and makeup to hide the zit, you can still re-apply to make sure it goes away by the end of the day. Glossier really thought of everything, didn’t they?

The Zit Stick is available now at glossier.com. Say goodbye forever to that long-lasting acne.
