Having one's lips filled has become an extremely popular cosmetic procedure, but how exactly does one go about having their filler removed if they have a change of heart?

Plastic surgeon Dr. Douglas Senderoff gave some insight to this hot topic via Teen Vogue. Having the lips filled is a procedure where a type of injection, such as Hyaluronic acid, is added to the mouth area. There are different types of products used, but the result typically ends up being the same. Fillers add volume as well as define the shape and change the structure of the lips.

The procedure is usually simple and quick to complete, and the results are noticeable almost instantly. But, much like other cosmetic enhancements, the look can be reversed. Taking out the filler will de-plump the lips, making them less full, and they will eventually return to their natural shape. Dr. Senderoff said the best way to remove lip filler is by having a product called Hyaluronidase injected into the lips. It will then reverse the first Hyaluronic acid injection. Obviously, the Hyaluronidase should only be used if the lips have been augmented.

There are a couple of side effects to having filler removed, but none of them are particularly severe, unless one has an allergic reaction to the product. The most significant side effect is swelling of the lips, but it should only last a couple of days. Should anyone experience a rash, hives, itching, shortness of breather or coughing they should contact their doctor immediately. It is rare that these side effects occur, but they can, and it is super important to be aware and consult a medical professional before having any sort of work done. Those who choose to go this route will see results within a few days of having the reversal process completed. The entire procedure involves minimal downtime, which is an added bonus.

Interestingly, Kylie Jenner, known for her plump lips, had her fillers removed earlier this year.

Now that she has had her lip fillers removed we predict that there will be many people following her lead. After all, there was an increase in lip augmentation after she shared that she had her lips filled back in 2015. The surge was not all because of her but she was definitely a contributing factor, so isn't it safe to assume the same will happen now that she removed hers?
