Stephen King is the king of modern horror novels. (No pun intended!) From 1977's Carrie to this year's release of The Institute, King has now released 61 books- all of which have reached varying amounts of success. A majority of them were later adapted into movies that range from minor hits to record-breaking box office smashes. Between It: Chapter Two coming out earlier this year, and Doctor Sleep (the long-awaited sequel to The Shining) set it hit the big screen later this coming November, it appears that King will continue to bring in a ton of money and success for quite some time.
With all that being said, it should come as no surprise that King is already gearing up to release his newest book. Yes, you read that correctly- Stephen King is releasing a new book after having recently released the aforementioned novel, The Institute. So if you enjoyed that book- and already managed to work your way through his previous work- then this is surely fantastic news!
The newest King book in question is called If It Bleeds. It's actually not a regular book that contains one plot line (and maybe a subplot or two). Instead, it's a collection of four brand new novellas that are in the same format of previous novellas such as Shawshank Redemption and The Stand. Considering that those two examples were such big hits that they had or will get on-screen adaptations respectively, If It Bleeds and its novellas will most likely become a success in its own right.
According to Scribner- King's publisher- each novella from If It Bleeds will "pull readers into intriguing and frightening places." Most everyone knows that King's books can scare readers with ease. The Institute debuted at number one on The New York Times' best-seller list just last week, and many more have surely made that list in the past. It wouldn't be surprising if his upcoming book, If It Bleeds, makes The New York Times' best-seller list shortly after release.
Considering the fact that King's most recent novella, Elevation, was released back on October 30th, 2018, it may be surprising that more are coming out so soon. But it's not like any of King's fans will mind this little surprise!
