Some fans noticed tensions between them when the statement claimed that Camila hadn't told them personally she was leaving and that her management broke the news to them. In response, Camila said she had always been open about wanting to do music as a solo artist.

16 She Opened Up To Billboard

Only a month after announcing that she was no longer going to be making music with Fifth Harmony, Camila found herself on the cover of Billboard magazine. She did a full interview with the magazine all about her decision to make music by herself, how she was handling this huge change, and what she thought life without her four fellow members of Fifth Harmony was going to be like.

In the emotional interview, Camila opened up about when she started to feel separate from the group and her plans for the future.

15 'Hey Ma' Was Featured In A Movie

Anyone who listened to their music will hear that many of the vocals in the group's songs come from Camila. On top of doing most of the singing in the group, she also had the most work outside of the group.

Songs with Machine Gun Kelly and Shawn Mendes had already been released but Hey Ma, a song she did with Pitbull and J Balvin, was released following her departure. This song was even featured in The Fate of the Furious!

14 She Performed At The Kids' Choice Awards

Bad Things, a Machine Gun Kelly song that Camila was featured on, was basically impossible to avoid back in 2017. This song is a super catchy one that topped the charts after it was released, which was before Camila left Fifth Harmony, and was all over the radio.

At the 2017 Kids' Choice Awards, Fifth Harmony accepted two awards without Camila. Despite this, it's safe to say the night was probably still pretty great for her considering she was on stage performing Bad Things.

13 She Dropped A Solo Single

Following Camila's departure from the group, it's definitely safe to say that all eyes were on her as people anxiously awaited her debut songs as a solo artist. Whether it's because they were fans who wanted to cheer her on or people who were upset she left 5H, people were waiting.

12 And Then Another One

For some artists, it takes a long time to release new music. Others seem to be coming out with a new song all the time! When Camila released Crying in the Club, another song could be heard as the intro in the lyric video which had fans scratching their heads.

But fans only had to wait three short days before Camila surprised everyone by releasing the full version of the song heard at the beginning of Crying in the Club. The song I Have Questions became the second single Camila released as a solo artist.

11 Her First Solo Performance Was Huge

Even though Camila had released music as a solo artist, she hadn't actually performed by herself yet. Every performance she had done since leaving Fifth Harmony was with another artist because she was performing songs that she had collaborated with them on.

But at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, Camila finally had her chance to perform for the first time as a solo artist. At the award show, she performed I Have Questions and Crying in the Club in a huge debut performance.

10 She Didn't Stop There

Following her first huge performance as a solo artist at the Billboard Music Awards, it would make sense for Camila to relax and take a little time off, right? No way! Just over a week after that performance, Camila took the stage again during an episode of Britain's Got Talent in order to perform her song Crying in the Club once more. Even though this song didn't make the cut and was taken off her album, it's still super catchy and we loved every performance.

9 Her First Solo Award

Although Fifth Harmony had won some awards before Camila left the group, the fact that she was now a solo artist meant that she was experiencing all those milestones again for the first time.

From her first performance, her debut single and debut album, and her first award, all these things that she had experienced with Fifth Harmony were now coming to her again as a solo artist. At the 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs, Camila accepted the award for Best International Artist, her first award during her solo career!

8 She Went On Tour With Someone Huge

After a few huge performances as a solo artist, it's safe to say Camila had become comfortable with the stage as a solo artist. During the summer of 2017, Camila put this to the test by going on tour with someone huge as the opening act.

Anyone who saw Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic Tour probably saw the Crying in the Club singer performing before he hit the stage. In her announcement, she was just as excited as her fans and said, "I've looked up to Bruno as a vocalist, musician, entertainer and artist, I'm so honored and excited."

7 'Havana' Hit The Airwaves

Even though Crying in the Club was the first single that Camila released as a solo artist, the third song she released after going solo is the first one that really became a big hit. The song Havana was released in August of 2017 and hit the number one spot on the charts in several countries including the US!

This song, which features Young Thug, was basically impossible to avoid after its release. The song is a tribute to Camila's home, Cuba, and featured a hilarious music video that parodied telenovelas.
