One of the most popular workouts around is one where you get to dance your way to flat abs. Yes, we are talking about Zumba.

The Latin dance-infused workout has been popular for years. Although it is not quite as popular as it was a few years ago, people still love it. Whether you are taking a class, using the DVD or the app, there are so many different routines when doing a Zumba workout. Each and every one of them will get your heart pumping and your waistline shrinking.

“Zumba uses high-intensity interval training with fast songs and periods of slower songs. Interval training has many benefits, including improved cardiovascular fitness; it lowers cholesterol and improves insulin sensitivity, all of which will burn that layer of fat covering those abs that we all want to see," revealed Tremain Linson, a Zumba instructor from San Antonio, who also goes by T-Nasty.

Each Zumba workout can burn up to 350 calories, of course, the amount of calories burned depends on how hard you workout. Although doing this super fun workout will definitely help you lose the pounds, one of the biggest benefits is a flatter stomach. The reason for this is because a majority of the moves stem from your core. Those who take part in a Zumba workout will see oblique twists, belly rolling with hands in the air, knee to elbow lifts, and hip rotating, all activities that will flatten your abs.

“Zumba is a fun and effective way to burn belly fat, as long as you do it often. It is recommended that you get 2.5 to five hours or more of cardiovascular exercise each week for the most health and fat-loss benefits. Therefore, you should take at least three Zumba classes each week," said Zumba instructor Magic Manny told POPSUGAR.

Let's recap here a bit. Zumba is a ton of fun, gets your heart pumping and will help you achieve flat abs. It seems like a no-brainer to not at least try this awesome workout. Those looking to see serious results will need to take at least five classes a week for the best results. Plus, you should remember that weight training is still necessary to achieve lean muscle. Therefore a combination of both Zumba and weights lifting will give you the best workout results.
