There was some major "Lady Marmalade" being made recently, and we mean it! Christina Aguilera is currently on her Liberation tour and recently invited a special guest on stage that sent the crowd crazy.
During Christina’s show in New York City this past week, the "Genie In A Bottle" singer welcomed a familiar face on stage to sing a massive hit. “Voulez-vous couchez avec moi? Ce soir?” If those lyrics don’t ring a bell then you’ve been missing out. The 2001 hit, "Lady Marmalade" is a staple hit that features Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya and rap icon, Lil Kim. “Where are all my soul sisters?” Well, they’re in NYC!
Christina Aguilera was performing the 2001 song on stage when she let the crowd in on a little secret! “We got a surprise,” she told the crowd. As soon as Xtina let the cat out of the bag, Lil Kim made her way on stage to rap her verse of the song. The crowd, unknowing to her surprise appearance, went wild! We haven’t seen a reunion this big in quite a while, and we must admit, it was definitely worth watching.
The star hit the stage in a gorgeous sparkly bodysuit that hugged her body in all the right ways. Audience members, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, loved every second of it, and could not contain their excitement regarding the rapper's appearance. Xtina, who wore a fabulous white robe and black bodysuit, was all smiles during the performance, as they both took us back to the early 2000s.
The song, "Lady Marmalade" was a monumental song back in the day, it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and even earned a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals, and rightfully so! If you’ve never sung the song during a Karaoke session, then you’ve definitely been doing Karaoke wrong. Not only was this a major move for Xtina, but it’s also a defining period for her career, considering the star has not toured in quite a while.
The Liberation tour marks Christina’s first tour in over a decade and had two sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall. The singer has been keeping busy as a mom and judge on The Voice but is not focusing on her music again, and kicking old school with gal pal, Lil Kim. This is a reunion we had no idea we needed!
