Christine Teigen has opened up on her marriage with singer and musician John Legend, explaining how she makes it work with the world-famous performer.

The model has been married to John Legend since 2013, having met him on the set of one of his music videos six years prior, and has hailed the importance of couples not forgetting their bond as partners and lovers even if they have kids.

Chrissy gave birth to the couple's first child, Luna Simone Stephens, back in April of 2016. And last November, they announced that there was a baby boy on the way.

“I think it’s really important to be complete partners in crime,” she said in a candid interview with Well+Good last week.

“I love the mentality of ‘us against the world.’ Even when you have kids, never forget your relationship as partners and lovers—that’s so important.”

John and Chrissy have been pretty open about their relationship, with both of them weighing in via the media at various points. And the model, who has struggled with infertility and postpartum depression - a pretty rough combination, mind you - also notes the importance of communication in a relationship, especially one in which kids are involved as they do carry a fair amount of stress.

“Even when we have Luna going insane, it’s important to be able to look at each other and be like, ‘We created this thing and we’re going to solve it together,’” she continued. “Sometimes I don’t want to make John feel good and I’m sure he has the same with me, but it’s my keen advice to do it anyway.”

Apparently, a good sense of humor is essential too, as Chrissy recently trolled her husband on Twitter by claiming she didn't pick up his last name up after marrying him because he didn't even keep it himself.

Legend, actually named John Roger Stephens, wisely dropped Stephens for the Legend stage name, and it's certainly paying off. The 39-year-old just completed a tour in Asia and will headline NBC’s live staging of “Jesus Christ Superstar” on Easter Sunday.

The 10-time Grammy Award winner - also an Oscar winner -  will put both his singing and acting talent on display, having delved into television as well. He only recently won a Tony Award for producing August Wilson revival play Jitney.

So, pretty sound advice from Chrissy there. Communication, as just about everyone will tell you, is one of the most important aspects of any relationship. But the legendary wife does go on to point out that remembering that spark as lovers goes a long way, too.
