It's hard to think of someone who is more famous than Kim Kardashian. Ever since her tape was leaked in 2007, it seems like it's impossible to go a day without hearing something about her. In recent years, it seems like she's in the spotlight more than ever, thanks to her growing family, her marriage to Kanye West, and the gorgeous selfies that she posts on social media on a regular basis. Fans are definitely happy to keep up with her, that's for sure.

Kim and Kanye announced that they would be adding a third kid to their adorable family last fall, and the Internet went wild. People wondered if they would have another son to join Saint West or daughter to join North West. And once Kim announced that she was having the third baby via surrogate, people wondered who that surrogate was and what the deal was. That was definitely a pretty massive news story and that pregnancy has stayed in the spotlight ever since. The surrogate was kept totally in the dark... until now! Yup, we know now a few things about Kim K's surrogate, and we're here to tell you. Here are 15 things that you didn't know about Kim's surrogate!

15 She Appeared In An Episode Of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'

When Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired on Sunday March 4th, which was episode 19 of season 14, there was a special surprise for longtime fans of the family: Kim Kardashian's surrogate was revealed.

She appeared in this episode, although her face wasn't filmed in order to give her some privacy, and it was super exciting. This was definitely a really great way to tell fans a bit more about her since it was done in a classy way that still maintained her privacy and there was no talk about it beforehand. Sure, Kim totally knows that she's so famous that everyone wants to know everything that there is to know about her and that includes her surrogate, but she wanted to keep most of this process and journey private.

14 She Had Never Met Kim's Fam Before

When the surrogate appeared in this episode of KUWTK, this was actually the very first time that she had met Kim's family. She was introduced to Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Khloe Kardashian, and probably met Kourtney too but she didn't seem to be in this particular scene.

This episode was filmed a while ago, of course, because she was still pregnant and we know that Chicago West was born on January 15th. And Kylie was still pregnant in this episode and we know that her baby, Stormi Webster, was born on February 1st. It was a very sweet moment and everyone was so happy to meet Kim's surrogate. It definitely was heartbreaking and, okay, you just might have cried watching it, right? You can totally admit it.

13 Her Name Is La'Reina Haynes

Before this episode aired, no one knew the name of Kim's surrogate, and her identity was definitely kept under wraps. Her name was revealed in this episode: La'Reina Hanyes.

Of course, now that everyone knows her name, she is now the subject of a ton of attention and people are wondering what there is to know about her. There isn't a lot of information about her since maintaining her privacy seems to be very important to her, and of course, that's absolutely her right. Just because she was the surrogate for two very famous people doesn't mean that she's famous herself and that she wants to live her life in the spotlight. She seems like a great choice and Kim tweeted on Sunday night that it was so exciting that her surrogate met her fam.

12 She Called Being Pregnant "Natural"

When La'Reina was asked how she feels about being pregnant and what her experience has been like, she had a super positive response, which is really nice to hear. You never want someone to have a rough time.

She said, "I've always had easy pregnancies. I like being pregnant. I know that sounds really weird. The pregnancy itself, you know, it just feels natural, like I'm supposed to do that." It actually doesn't sound that strange to say that you like being pregnant since a lot of women do feel that way. Your attitude and approach to expecting a baby would definitely depend on whether you have an easy pregnancy without morning sickness and a lot of other complications, or if you have a really hard time.

11 She Delivered The Baby Naturally

One interesting moment in that episode is when Kim tells the camera that it was great news that La'Reina would be able to deliver the baby naturally and wouldn't have to have a C-section. So it's safe to say that she delivered Chicago West naturally when he was born in January 2018.

Of course there's no shame for women who have to have a baby via C-section. Sometimes it's the only way and it's medically necessary. But it seems like most people would probably rather be able to have a natural birth instead. It's a very personal thing and there's no right or wrong way to feel about this subject, it just depends on you and what you want. But, of course, sometimes you don't have a choice and a C-section is the smartest decision.

10 She Was Paid $68,850

When it was announced that Kim Kardashian would be having her third child via surrogate, the rumors started flying, and people wanted to know as much as they could about her. That was only natural since we're talking about Kim Kardashian here, right?! She's always in the spotlight and this was a pretty juicy news story.

One thing that seems to be true (although of course you never really know what's 100 percent accurate when it comes to stories about celebrities) is that Kim and Kanye paid their surrogate $68,850. Since that's such a specific number, it seems like it's probably true. A lot of people are saying that was a low number, but it's probably tough to know what would be low and what would be high.

9 She's A Mom Herself

It's probably better if someone who is going to be a surrogate already has kids because then they've had the experience of giving birth and being a mom before. Maybe some people don't think that matters and would hire a surrogate who hadn't given birth before, but it would make sense if people wanted that criteria. Sure, it's subjective and a personal decision, but most people just might feel more comfortable with that. And it makes sense for sure.

Kim's surrogate has definitely given birth before because it has been revealed that she's a mom and she has two boys. They're both fairly young: one is five years old and one is three years old. She has been described as a stay-at-home mom a few places online.

8 She Feels 'Joy' As A Surrogate

If you hire a surrogate, you definitely want them to enjoy the whole experience and feel like it's a good thing, right? It would be kind of weird and horrible if you asked them what they thought about it and they were all, "It's not really my cup of tea." You would probably feel like you made a big mistake and it would be a stressful situation.

That's not what happened here, though. The entire surrogate experience sounds like it went really well and was absolutely awesome. When she was asked about her experience in this episode of KUWTK, La'Reina had a really perfect answer. She said, "My joy and my satisfaction is for whoever I'm having the baby for." She doesn't feel sad about giving up the baby or anything like that.

7 She Considers It An Important Job

Being a surrogate is definitely a really important thing to do. After all, you're giving someone the gift of a baby when they can't have one for whatever reason. It's a selfless act. Okay, okay, a surrogate will get paid, so some people might argue that it's a job like any other. But it can't really be viewed as a regular job because it's emotional bringing new life into the world. You really can't see it as anything other than that.

La'Reina also talked about how she feels like surrogacy is an important thing for her to do. In that episode, she said, "It makes me feel important because I’m like, ‘Wow, I did something so good. This is beautiful. I would do this again a thousand more times.'"

6 She's Done This Before

On that note, it's been revealed that La'Reina has been a surrogate before. That's probably part of the list of criteria that a lot of people take seriously when they're looking to hire someone to carry their child.

After all, you probably want to go with someone who has been a surrogate in the past. It would make things so much easier since this would mean that they would know what to expect, they would know what rules to follow, and they would take the whole thing seriously and act like a professional. Because even though it's emotional and it's a unique thing to do, it's still a business transaction in a sense, right? If you're famous and are hiring a surrogate, it's probably even more important to you that they know what they're doing.

5 She Would Have Gotten $5,000 More If Had Twins

When it was announced that Kim would be having her third baby via a surrogate, people started sharing all sorts of information. One thing that was available online was information about the contract between Kim and her surrogate.

And one thing that was apparently in that contract? That if the surrogate gave birth to twins, she would be given $5,000 more (aka on top of the money that she was already being paid). That might sound like a lot of money and a pretty crazy thing, but apparently, this is pretty standard as far as these things go, and it's part of many surrogacy contracts. Who knew?! What we do know is that she didn't give birth to twins and just had one baby, Chicago West.

4 She And Kylie's Due Dates Were Around A Month Apart

A sweet moment was when Kylie and La'Reina were chatting about their pregnancies and realized that their due dates were basically a month apart. La'Reina gave birth to Chicago West on January 15th and Kylie had Stormi on February 1st. Pretty cute and pretty cool.

Khloe was also there, of course, and said that she and Kylie's due dates were three months apart, which means that we're all super psyched for the moment that Khloe has her baby. It's going to be a really exciting time. It's definitely amazing that this famous family will all have babies around the same time and in the same year. That probably doesn't happen all that often, if at all, and that's why we're all so happy to read whatever news we can find.

3 She Wasn't At The Baby Shower

You might think that Kim would have invited her surrogate to her baby shower... or maybe you didn't think so. Some people might think that this was only fair and the right thing to do and others would think that it wasn't necessary or a good idea. It's one of those things where there isn't a right or a wrong answer, it's just what you feel you should do.

It turns out that Kim didn't have La'Reina at her baby shower, but she had a reason behind it: she hadn't told her children that she was having a baby via surrogate. Kim was interviewed on The Real and she said that her surrogate wasn't at her baby shower. She said, "Of course, I would've wanted her to be there and be a part of it, but I hadn't really gone that far in explaining it to my kids yet."

2 She Didn't Know It Was Kim's Baby In The Beginning

You might think that anyone would jump at the chance at being a surrogate for a celebrity and this would be even truer for Kim Kardashian. That's probably why the surrogate wasn't actually told that this was for Kim for the first little while.

Yes, this is true. It wasn't until she was pregnant for a few weeks that she was told that she was having the baby for Kim and Kanye. Can you imagine what she must have thought?! She must have been really excited and probably really surprised. That's definitely a shocking thing to hear and a really cool thing to hear, too. It makes sense that this would be kept private, though, and she seems like a private person so this probably seemed reasonable to her.

1 She Was Chosen After Kim Was Looking For A Long Time

As Kim Kardashian has explained in interviews, she was looking for a surrogate for a long time, and it was a long process. After a lot of research and thinking, she chose La'Reina, and it seems like it was a really great decision. The whole process seems to have gone very smoothly.

It was a very moving thing to see Kim have her surrogate meet her family in this episode of the famous fam's reality show, and it made for one of those reality TV moments that really do feel, well, real. There was a lot of honest, raw emotion there and a lot of love, too. And for fans who love getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how this family lives, it was totally a gift.
