OK, they didn't make it to "'til death do us part." It happens. For some, it's a kiss good-bye after signing some papers. If they share kids, there's the added: "See ya next week," for the every other weekend hand-off. And then there are the others; the couples who go down swingin'. Divorce is not enough after they've said enough to the relationship. They harass. They stalk. They mentally torment. Sometimes it's one-sided; other times each party takes its turn making the other miserable.

As the disintegration of the relationship plays out in media, it's often surprising to see who chose the "but we're still good friends" route and who went off the rails.

10 Amicable: Gwyneth Paltrow And Chris Martin

They consciously uncoupled in 2014 after 11 years of marriage, but Oscar-winning actress said she still viewed herself, the Coldplay frontman, and their two kids, daughter Apple and son Moses, as one. After the announcement on her website, GOOP, the entrepreneur took a lot of heat for claiming she was reinventing divorce but kept her word about keeping her connection with her ex intact.

They continued to vacation with the kids after the separation, and even after the Ironman star remarried--to Pose creator Brad Falchuk--and the rocker was dating Dakota Johnson, they still went away together. "Chris and I were meant to be together and have our kids. But our relationship is much better like this: friends and co-parents and family."

9  Not: Johnny Depp And Amber Heard

Acts of violence. Threats of violence. Texts about violence. This coupling proves two beautiful people can get ugly. The Aquaman star questioned the mental stability of her ex, and the Pirates of the Caribbean icon filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against her.

The duo separated after a year of marriage and the classic beauty penned an op-ed in the Washington Post about being a victim of domestic abuse. Even though he was not named in the piece, the face of Dior's Sauvage took offense, claiming his ex-wife's bruises were painted on and that he was the one who was victimized, saying she allegedly severed his finger with a broken vodka bottle. Ouch.

8 Amicable: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Despite a bit of post-breakup drama (the Wrecking Ball singer made a public display of her brief relationship of Brody Jenner's ex Kaitlynn Carter and recorded the song Slide Away that appeared to be about her divorce from the Aussie actor), the couple is just taking the you-go-your-way-I-go-mine route away from their eight-month marriage.

Together on and off for a decade, it took tying the knot to show them they should be off for good. Each has moved on to new relationships, (him with Gabriella Brooks and her with Cody Simpson) but the 27-year-old pop star says: "I've said it before and it remains true, I love Liam and always will."

7 Not: Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy

The name-calling, accusation-riddled divorce of the former Real Housewives of New York juggernaut from the one-time pharmaceuticals sales rep has been a long day's journey. Even though the couple settled back in 2016, well, it ain't over 'til it's over. They are still married.

The custody battle over now 9-year-old daughter Bryn, which could only be described as explosive, remains the real jaw-dropper in the aftermath of this relationship. Hoppy declared war: "I'm going to ruin you." The tough as nails Skinny Girl entrepreneur got a restraining order and had her ex arrested for threatening her in person as well as via email and FaceTime.

6 Amicable: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan

After 10 years, this young couple showed great maturity when they dissolved their marriage. Yes, things took a momentary nasty turn, but then returned their collective focus back to what mattered most to them: their daughter Everly. This past January, The Resident actress and Magic Mike hunk agreed to 50/50 custody and are working with a mediator to work out holiday scheduling.

Both parties have moved on to new relationships; Tatum with singer Jessie J. and Dewan is expecting a child with Tony-winning actor Steve Kazee.

5 Not: Wendy William and Kevin Hunter

A cheating scandal with a pregnancy chaser for him and a substance abuse issue for her. It had all the makings of a soap opera storyline. The talk show host served her executive producer husband of 22 years with divorce papers right on the set of her show after realizing she had been footing the bill for his affair.

The now-sober Williams fired him, kicked him out of their Jersey home and as for the new gold Ferrari he bought Sharina Hudson, his mistress for ten years and mother of his new baby, the daytime star had it towed. So there.

4 Amicable: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

The Good Will Hunting star took the family's nanny Christine Ouzounian to Vegas, and his Peppermint actress wife filed for divorce. She confessed that they had already been separated and her estranged husbands "misjudgment" tipped the scale.

The mother of three has called her ex of ten years brilliant, charismatic and complicated; and supported him through alcohol treatment. The Argo director called his divorce from Garner his biggest regret. At first, they continued to live on the same property, with Ben in the guest house. Later he bought a home nearby. The couple hired a mediator to set up an arrangement that would let them co-parent in the best interest of their children: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.

3 Not: Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower

You talkin' to me? Yes, the wife of the Taxi Driver star asked for half his $500 million fortune, even though their prenup gave her a $6 million apartment, half a mil in cash and $1 million per year in alimony; plus she wanted custody of their 7-year-old daughter Helen Grace. The very private Raging Bull Oscar winner alleged his coffee entrepreneur ex made the divorce public to irritate him.

This past Valentine's Day the former spouses finalized their custody agreement. As for the outcome of the settlement? Maybe The Godfather II legend will make her offer she can't refuse.

2 Amicable: Allison Williams and Ricky Van Veen

The Girls star and Facebook's Head of Global Creative Strategy have ended their almost four-year marriage. Clearly the opposites (she's known as a Type-A and he's more laid back) stopped attracting however the couple issued a statement that read: "With mutual love and respect, we have made the decision to separate a couple. We are grateful for the friendship that we have and will continue to have."

The pair, who married in 2015 in a ceremony officiated by Tom Hanks with Lena Dunham, Katy Perry, Barry Diller and Seth Meyers in attendance, have seemed to wish each other well and move on.

1 Not: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

The Maleficent actress filed for divorce is 2016 after her allegedly inebriated ex had an altercation with the couple's eldest son Maddox. The couple who came together in scandal (who could forget Brangelina v. Jen Aniston?) is apparently going out the same way.

What followed was the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Oscar winner being investigated by the Department of Children and Family Services as well as the FBI (both organizations concluded he did nothing wrong), and being smeared as a deadbeat dad who neglected to pay child support. Let's not even get started on the battle over the six kids whom the special envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees wants sole custody of.
