Big Little Lies has just released some big news regarding season two of the hit HBO show, but it does not involve any of the ladies. Several fan favorite male cast members have been confirmed to be returning for the new season. Oh yes, you can’t have the ladies of Monterey return without the men in their lives.
Adam Scott will return in the role of Ed Mackenzie the husband of Madeline, who is played by Reese Witherspoon. Season two will see Ed confronting some pretty serious issues concerning his marriage to Madeline. One of those marital problems is presumably from the affair she had with a local theater director. There is definitely going to be some juicy drama for these two!
Very flattered and excited to be back on this great show. Hoping it will catch on. https://t.co/k78b8dBovL— Adam Scott (@mradamscott) February 28, 2018
Iain Armitage, who currently stars on Young Sheldon, will be back as well. The young actor will reprise his role as Ziggy Chapman, the son of town newcomer Jane Chapman, played by Shailene Woodley. Ziggy is off to second grade in the new season, but will it be less turbulent for him then first grade?
James Tupper will step back into the role of Nathan Carlson, ex-husband of Madeline. He is also the father of her teenage daughter Abigail, played by the lovely Kathryn Newton. His one time happy marriage to Zoe Kravitz character, Boonie, faces some turmoil in season two. Oh yes, a series of events that may have to do with raising a teenager will put a damper on his once happy relationship with his current wife.
Finally, Jeffrey Nordling has signed a deal to return as Gordon Klein, the loving husband of Lauren Dern’s character Renata. According to Entertainment Weekly, Gordon could lose it all when he makes a big mistake forcing him to suffer some huge life consequences.
The men and one boy are now in place to bring the cast of Big Little Lies season two full circle. It has taken a while to get everyone on board because none of the cast had a deal past season one. The limited series was originally only going to be one season. However, with the HBO show being a mega hit, fans fought for more of life in Monterey.
Now that the cast is all set, perhaps fans will soon get even more details like production dates, a possible season two premiere date, and storyline spoilers. Anything to help satisfy fans withdrawal symptoms from the breakout show.
