Rachelle Chartrand

Rachelle Chartrand is an award-winning screenwriter, script consultant and past-president of Women in Film & Television Vancouver. Rachelle has a few projects at different stages of development, including 9630, a feature-length paranormal sci-fi thriller with Brightlight Pictures (Colossal, 50/50, White Noise) and Theory of Evelyn, a dramatic TV series, with Reality Distortion Field (Continuum, Van Helsing). As a writer-for-hire, Rachelle was chosen out of submissions from across France and North America to do the rewrite of an upcoming major motion picture (a biopic/love story) with Firstep Productions (Les Misérables, Midnight in Paris). In September 2014, Rachelle released her memoir, CHRYSALIS: A Dark and Delicious Diary of Emergence. Described as Eat, Pray, Love meets Bridget Jones's Diary if either woman was a bulimic, alcoholic divorced twice by age thirty-nine, CHRYSALIS chronicles Rachelle's heart-wrenching, heart-healing metamorphic year. Chrysalis is now being adapted into a TV Series entitled HEAR ME ROAR! Rachelle has an eclectic teaching resume as well, having taught and counseled students of all ages, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds locally and abroad. She has a Bachelor of Secondary Education with a major in Physics and a minor in Mathematics from the University of Alberta, but has also taught screenwriting, creative writing and ESL.
