Makeup artist Patrick Ta, who works with stars like Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, and Bella and Gigi Hadid, is known for creating unforgettable beauty moments. Now, the 28-year-old is about to have a moment of his own after announcing that he's launching his own makeup line.
The new collection, named Major Glow, has been in the works for over two years, and includes a select range of products such as body oil, lip shine, highlighting mist, and a special setting fan, as well as his own unique dewy and effortlessly radiant finish. The collection, released yesterday, was the result of Ta’s vast experience as well as his desire to not have to mix a variety of products to achieve the results he expected.
The focus of the brand is female empowerment because as a gay man he credits women with always supporting him from a young age, both personally and professionally. “Women gave me my career. If it weren't for me being able to do your makeup or their makeup, I wouldn't have a career,” Ta told Paper Magazine.
One of his favorite products from the Major Glow collection is the highlighting mist, which he says creates “a seamless glow” since the pearl particles dissolve into the skin. Ta believes his collection is different from other beauty brands because it focuses on a few products that he is proud of and would like to have in his own kit. "As of right now, makeup is for everybody. There are no boundaries [...] You don't need to look a certain way or be a certain way to apply a product."
As for his own beauty routine, Ta has been with La Mer since 2016. He likes to emphasize skincare and he trusts their cleansers and moisturizers. He applied this ethos to his own line by creating products that are very translucent, allowing the skin to shine through. When it comes to his celebrity clients, he says Grande loves pinks and nudes, while Gigi Hadid is also a fan of nudes.
His tip for covering dark circles or blemishes is La Mer's concealer, which he says is great for spot treatment. “I always say, "Don't cover the rest of your face, just go in with spot treatment in the areas that you need," he adds.

In terms of inclusivity in the beauty industry, he believes brands have made great strides in offering more diversity. “There are no boundaries, and I feel like people know that by now. You don't need to look a certain way or be a certain way to apply a product,” he says.
