Ariana Grande finally dropped the highly anticipated video to her latest song Thank U, Next, and it is somehow even better than everyone was expecting. Thank U, Next is the singer's first ever number one song on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, and as surprising as the release of the single was, as quickly did fans all over the world fall in love with the catchy, uplifting song. Some call it a breakup song, as Ariana is singing about ex-boyfriends Big Sean, Ricky, Mac Miller, and the most recent beau Pete Davidson, but it is more of a self-love anthem. Ari sings about how she has learned from her past relationships and that every one of them has helped her grow into the person she is today.
Ariana teased the video for a while before it finally released on November 30th, and it broke the records on YouTube reaching one million views in just over thirty minutes. The Thank U, Next video pays homage to everyone's favorite movies from the 2000s, and Ariana is recreating some of the most epic scenes. From Mean Girls and Bring It On, to Legally Blonde and Thirteen Going On Thirty, the twenty-five-year-old nailed every single one of them and is most likely prompting lots of people to go and rewatch some of these old classics.
As reported by E! Online, there were several celebrity cameos in the Thank U, Next video. The most talked about appearance is reality star mogul and momager Kris Jenner recreating the role of the Mean Girls' character Regina George's mom video recording the talent show performance.
Other familiar faces are Troye Sivan, Jennifer Coolidge and Jonathan Bennett who reprised his role as Aaron Samuels from Mean Girls. Those who watched Ariana in Victorious might recognize her former co-star Matt Bennett in the toothbrushing scene. Although not appearing in the video, some of the actresses who played in the original movies have shared their love and support for the song, the video, and Ariana herself in social media. Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Garner, and Reese Witherspoon have all expressed their love and appreciation.
Ariana definitely broke the Internet with Thank U, Next, and some fans who paid close attention in the video even picked up on hints for song titles to be included in the singer's next album. Until then, let's keep listening to Thank U, Next on repeat.
