Fans should be expecting a break-up album soon because songstress Adele has officially filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Simon Konecki.

The 31-year old singer filed the paperwork in Los Angeles this past Thursday, only five months after the notoriously private couple announced their separation following three years of marriage. The couple has been together for over seven years in total. They also share one child together, 6-year old son Angelo.

Despite their split, the parents have remained private when it comes to their personal life. Not only have they declined to offer a reason for their break-up, but Adele’s representative only confirmed the news once she was photographed without her wedding ring. “Adele and her partner have separated,” her rep said at the time, People reports. “They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always, they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”

Adele broke her own silence a few weeks later but only in the form of a meme. She shared one photo of herself giving a hilariously cringey face and then another of her looking strong and independent during her Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden. “When you catch yourself in your feelings then you remember who you are,” she captioned the series of photos.

Adele and Simon married in 2016, and according to reports, the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement at the time. It thus remains to be seen how the pair will divide their assets. Since Adele filed for divorce in California, her ex-husband could be entitled to half of everything she owns. Forbes estimates she’s worth a cool $180 million.

“Under California law, Konecki may be entitled to up to half of the singer’s earnings from the time they were married,” the publication explained. “If they choose to file in California, where they own significant property and Konecki has an office for his company, the pair might have to split everything evenly.”

However, Forbes pointed out that Adele has already given her soon-to-be ex, who works in the non-profit sector, property worth over $600,000, so it appears as though their separation may be pretty amicable. Adele has also time and again reiterated that money isn’t very important to her, so we have a feeling this won’t be a dramatic divorce.

Only time will tell how this celebrity divorce plays out. We wish Adele and her family all the best… and can’t wait to hear her sing about this whenever her next album drops.
