Relationships that last are rare in Hollywood. Friendships that last are even rarer. With many stars hopping from friend to friend through the ups and downs of their professional lives, that much is clear.
A life of fame and success seemingly makes it all the more difficult to keep a friendship going strong—actors and musicians are always working, flying in and out of the country, and are under immense pressure from fans, the press, and the industry itself to find even more success. There’s just not a lot of time or energy left to put into friendship.
But it also seems that stars like this are the ones who need a good friend the most. So when there’s a particularly strong bond of friendship between two famous faces, fans can’t help but celebrate it!
Some celebrities meet and bond on set. Some do it through mutual friends, and some have been sticking together since the early days before anybody knew their names. However they come together, it’s clear that a good friend who also knows what life is like in the spotlight is a necessity for someone living in the public eye.
Keep reading to find out who everyone's favorite celebrity BFFs are!
25 Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid
Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are one of the most famous BFF pairs on the planet. They come from similar backgrounds—both grew up in California in super wealthy and famous families, and both dreamed of pursuing modeling from a young age.
Today, Jenner and Hadid are two proud Victoria’s Secret angels who hang out even beyond the runway.
“I think Kendall and I have a really good friendship in the sense that we have different paths,” Gigi explained to E! News. “But we’re both kind of on equal points in our [professional lives] where we really understand each other.”
24 Beyoncé & Gwyneth Paltrow
Beyoncé is super private about her life off the stage, but we know that one of her BFFs is Gwyneth Paltrow. The two stars met at an event in New York.
At a red carpet premiere back in 2013, B spoke highly of the actress: “She is incredible; she’s a great friend on every level.”
Paltrow was quick to return the praise on Howard Stern, saying that Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z are “the greatest people” because “they are funny and sweet and self-aware and really intelligent.”
23 Jennifer Aniston & Selena Gomez
This does sound like an odd pairing that we never would have picked, but it turns out Jennifer Aniston and Selena Gomez totally have each other’s backs. In an interview with KTU, Gomez revealed that she met Aniston through her management and regularly visits her at home.
Their favorite things to do while hanging out are making pizzas in Aniston’s pizza oven and chatting about life. The Friends actress also gives Gomez “a lot of like, maternal advice.”
22 Busy Philipps & Michelle Williams
Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams are BFF goals because they are always there to support each other, no matter what.
Philipps has accompanied Williams to big industry events more than once, acting as her supportive plus one at the Golden Globes and even the Oscars.
These two aren’t afraid to show their friendly love for each other and often go hand in hand down the red carpet. “I’m so in love with her,” Williams told People. “She’s proof that the love of your life does not have to be a man!”
21 Eva Longoria & Victoria Beckham
Ever since Victoria Beckham and her family made the move from England to America, she’s had a good friend and neighbor in Eva Longoria. In the fall of 2016, Longoria appeared on Loose Women and gushed about her BF. “She’s really funny, she makes me laugh,” she said. “She’s very loyal, a very loyal friend. She’s an amazing businesswoman, a great business mind. She’s super smart.”
Beckham even designed Longoria’s wedding gown for her 2016 nuptials to Jose ‘Pepe’ Bastòn!
20 Blake Lively & Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has quite a few it-girls in her squad, but one of our favorites is Blake Lively.
Back in 2015, fans claimed that Lively was throwing shade at Swift, but the actress was quick to put all of that to bed.
“Umm whoever thought I was throwing shade clearly doesn’t know I have a ‘Taylor Swift Please Be My Wife VooDoo Doll...’” she wrote on social media. These two blonde BFFs posted the #couplegoals IG of the year, always share their love for each other on social media, and have even visited theme parks together.
19 Reese Witherspoon & Mindy Kaling
The friendship between Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling started when the two acted together in A Wrinkle in Time. Now, they’re actually at the point where they’ve given each other endearing nicknames (Reeses Pieces and Min Diesel) and take every chance they get to gush about each other on social media.
When one of them has a birthday, you can be sure that the other will pay tribute with a cute post on social media. Standard BFF duties, duh!
18 Bette Midler & 50 Cent
Wait, what? In what’s probably one of the most unlikely friendships of all time, we next have legends of the silver screen and world of rap respectively, Bette Midler and 50 Cent.
These two became friends through the New York Restoration Project, and much to everyone’s surprise, totally hit it off.
“He’s one of the newest members of our tribe,” Midler said in a speech at one of the foundation’s events. “He’s really made my life worth living … has been with me through thick and thin.”
17 Sienna Miller & Keira Knightley
Like many friendships, the bond between Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller began over a breakup. After meeting on the set of The Edge of Love in 2008, Pirates of the Caribbean star Knightley and Miller became good friends while the former was struggling with the end of her relationship.
Miller suggested that they should go out together and let loose to help Knightley forget about it, and that advice must have worked really well because they’ve been thick as thieves since then.
16 Brad Pitt & George Clooney
Brad Pitt and George Clooney are the definition of bromance goals!
Not only are they both A-listers with the industry nibbling out of their hands, but they’ve also had the chance to bond on the sets of several movies that they’ve worked on together, including the Ocean’s movies and Burn After Reading.
Like all good friends, these two like to joke with each other and have famously been involved in ongoing prank wars that have made headlines around the world.
15 Jonah Hill & The Olsen Twins
Here’s another friendship that came out of nowhere! You wouldn’t think that Jonah Hill and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen would have much to talk about, but this trio have been friends for years.
In 2018, Ashley even spent Easter with Hill. Later that year, the famous sisters attended the Wall Street Journal Magazine’s 2018 Innovator Awards and sat at Hill’s table to support him. In his speech, it was reported by People that he even thanked them for their support.
14 Chrissy Teigen & Kim Kardashian
Both Chrissy Teigen and Kim Kardashian have lots of friends in Hollywood, but they just might be each other’s biggest fans. In the beginning, Teigen was nervous about meeting the ultra-famous reality star. “I don’t know, I’d been watching. I knew all about you. I felt like kind of a weirdo,” she told Kardashian in an interview on her website. But the two hit it off.
When Kardashian was fighting with husband Kanye West, Teigen reportedly even offered her a place to stay!
13 Rihanna & Cara Delevingne
Rihanna has famously been linked to BFFs like Katy Perry, but now she’s closer than ever with model and actress Cara Delevingne. In typical A-lister fashion, these two met at a fashion show, and according to Rihanna, have been tight ever since.
“We have busy schedules but no matter where either of us are in world, we know we can just pick up the phone and unload on each other, and that we are always ready to listen or offer advice,” the singer told The Sun.
12 Dominic Cooper & James Corden
Another bromance we can’t quite get enough of is Mamma Mia! Star Dominic Cooper and talk-show host James Corden. Though the latter has only become a household name in recent years, the friendship between these two actually dates back to 2004.
Cooper and Corden briefly lived with each other, and Cooper was even the one who introduced the comedian to his wife Julia Carey.
The pair tested their friendship on Corden’s show, and proved that they know almost everything there is to know about one another.
11 Naomi Watts & Nicole Kidman
The friendship between Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman has lasted longer than 25 years, so we feel like this one is here to stay. The actresses have worked together only one time, on 1991’s Flirting, but it’s clear their friendship was meant to be. Both stars love to gush about each other to the media.
“Naomi and I are very, very good friends and have maintained that through so many things,” Kidman said to The Telegraph. “I think that’s really rare, particularly for actress, and I take a lot of pride in that.”
10 Kate Hudson & Liv Tyler
Kate Hudson and Liv Tyler are proof that the friendships you make in high school really can last forever!
Both actresses attended Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles when they were teens, and through their friendship, have grown to be close with each other’s families.
One thing they have in common is being the children of ultra-famous people—Hudson is the daughter of legendary actress Goldie Hawn, and Tyler’s dad is Steven Tyler, the frontman of Aerosmith.
9 Kristen Wiig & Maya Rudolph
These two played BFFs in the movie Bridesmaids, and it turns out that the love we saw on the screen between them was actually genuine! Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph are both Saturday Night Live stars, but they actually knew each other for a whole decade before they made it as comedians.
It’s one thing to realize your dream, but doing it with your best friend by your side has to be the epitome of warm and fuzzy feelings! Hats off to these hilarious ladies!
8 David Beckham & Snoop Dogg
When the Beckhams made the move over the pond, they quickly became friends with some very high-profile US figures.
Just as Victoria grew close with Eva Longoria, David has become buddies with none other than rap star Snoop Dogg.
“Whenever I make a record, I give him a copy before it’s done. He’s like a brother,” Snoop told the UK Mirror. “I’m gonna show him to rap, for shizzle. He’s my boy. I love soccer just as he loves hip-hop.”
7 Sophie Turner & Maisie Williams
They play sisters with a rocky relationship on Game of Thrones, but in real life, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams are BFFs. Since the first day of shooting the series, these two have stuck by each other’s sides. Take a look at any one of their social media accounts and you’ll see that they are essentially attached at the hip.
They’ve even starred together on James Corden’s carpool karaoke, hilariously impersonating Game of Thrones co-star and on-screen dad Sean Bean.
6 Kristen Stewart & Dakota Fanning
They may have played enemies in Twilight, but Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning couldn’t be closer in real life. In 2016, Fanning presented Stewart with an award at the Elle’s Women in Hollywood Awards ceremony.
During Fanning’s speech, she opened about their close friendship and gave us all the feels.
“She has held my hair back and talked me through heartbreak. She has always been there for me when I have needed her most, and most of all she has taught me the power of being one hundred percent yourself one hundred percent of the time.”
5 Tina Fey & Amy Poehler
The other pair of SNL besties we can’t get enough of are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who have worked together over and over again throughout their working lives. They first met in Chicago on the comedy scene in the 1990s, and eventually ended up on Saturday Night Life together.
Together, this iconic duo has hosted the Golden Globes (more than once) and have collaborated on other exciting projects. Poehler appeared in Tina Fey’s Mean Girls, playing the entertaining Mrs. George.
4 Miley Cyrus & Kelly Osbourne
Daughters of musicians have to stick together! Miley Cyrus and Kelly Osbourne’s 2012 film So Undercover may have gone straight to DVD, but the two stars got close on set.
While they don’t agree with everything the other one does, and aren’t afraid to tell each other what’s really on their minds, these two support each other, always.
“I’m proud of her because whether you agree with what she does or not,” Osbourne told HuffPost Live, “she stands by her guns and she’s not fake.”
3 Jennifer Aniston & Courtney Cox
Of course, Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox became household names after playing two of six best friends. We don’t know whether Rachel Green and Monica Geller would still be friends in 2018, but Aniston and Cox definitely are!
They met on the set of their hit comedy and have stayed tight ever since.
Cox was the maid of honor at Aniston’s wedding to Justin Theroux, and Aniston is godmother to Cox’s daughter Coco. After all these years, they’re still there for each other!
2 Leonardo DiCaprio & Tobey Maguire
Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Macguire worked together for the first time in 2013, on Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby, but their friendship extends much further back than that. They actually met at an audition in the 1990s, before either of them were huge stars.
“We are like any other buddies. There’s a lot of laughing and chatting between us. We enjoy doing a lot of things we have in common, like basketball. We like to play and talk about basketball,” Maguire told People.
1 Matt Damon & Ben Affleck
Before making it to Hollywood, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck got to know each other in Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Boston. They moved out to Los Angeles together and worked on their screenplay for Good Will Hunting together.
Later, when the film was mad, they became even closer on set.
Both actors have been on the receiving end of negative press, but through it all, they stand by each other and keep each other strong. Goals!
