No one would probably have thought to combine Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in a movie, but that’s exactly what happened in the remake of A Star is Born. It’s the third time the movie has been made and legends such as Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand played the role before Gaga. No one expected the movie to be so good and we are betting that there are going to be some Oscar nods in their direction. A remake has been talked about for close to ten years and was originally going to have Clint Eastwood directing and Beyonce holding the lead. But instead, it fell into the lap of Bradley Cooper.

Not only does he act in the movie, but he was the writer and director behind it as well. The story itself is about a singer-songwriter and the romance between her and a veteran rocker played by Cooper. It could easily haven corny, but this film might win a ton of Oscar. Since Cooper and Gaga have gotten together, we have seen nothing short of swoon-worthy photos of the two and their natural chemistry is likely the reason why the movie is doing so well. Check out these 20 pics of Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga that have us swooning.

20 These Two Have Natural Chemistry

How cute are these two? Having chemistry between two actors is a surefire way to get a box-office hit and these two together seem to be box-office gold. It may have a lot to do with Bradley Cooper’s vision for the movie. When he wrote the remake, he had specific ideas on what he wanted out of Lady Gaga. According to the Los Angeles Times, when Gaga met Cooper, he examined her and all her accompanying makeup. “Take it off,” Cooper told Gaga. He literally took a makeup wipe to her face and took off her makeup. He didn’t want a pop star in his film. “Completely open,” he said. “No artifice.”

19 She Found It Liberating

No doubt acting with Bradley Cooper is enough to make any girl swoon. We love how he is helping her out of the car in this photo, like such a gentleman. Lady Gaga stated that working with him was liberating.

"It was a challenge but it was also very liberating, and to me, any time I'm doing anything, especially with an actor of his caliber

— and I've always been such a huge fan of Bradley and was excited to be the first, you know, lead actress in his film — I wanted to give everything I had: every last drop of blood, all my fear, all my shame, all my pain, all my love, all my kindness. "

18 They've Really Gotten To Know Each Other

These two are obviously close now and they have spent a lot of time together, even after the movie wrapped up. They have been seen shopping together and hanging out which isn’t unusual for actors who spend months filming together. Gaga states that filming without makeup was something she had to trust Cooper with.

“It put me right in the place I needed to be, because when my character talks about how ugly she feels — that was real,”

Gaga recalls. “I’m so insecure. I like to preach, but I don’t always practise what I preach.”

17 Love At First Sight

These two could easily be in love if they weren’t attached to other people. We love the way Gaga looks at Cooper adoringly. Even though Cooper wanted her, Warner Bros. still made her audition. “That was the studio — that wasn’t Bradley or the producers, but a former executive at Warner Bros. who wasn’t convinced Gaga should get the role,” explains Bill Gerber, one of the film’s producers.

“So we convinced them. Bradley believed in her, and Warner was generous enough to budget a proper screen test.

It wasn’t unanimous until we did the test, and when they saw it, it took them seconds to say yes.”

16 It Was A New Look

Lady Gaga used to spend a lot of time putting makeup on for her gigs, so she has stated that not too many people know what she looks like without makeup. She understood why she needed to do the screen test. She said that some people “don’t really know what I look like.” Plus, she likes to prove people wrong.

“I’m totally that girl that’s like, ‘Bring it. I’ll show you.’”

It looks like she did just that with this movie.

15 Showing Each Other Off

Judging by a lot of these photos, the two adore each other and when they are at events, they are so proud of one another She had to start from scratch and learn what it truly meant to be an actress in this film.

“We worked together doing some workshops with [acting coaches] Elizabeth Kemp and Susan Batson and I dyed my hair and took my makeup off a few months before we started filming, to get into the character,”

she says. “It was a challenge, but Bradley says it to me in the film, and he said it to me every day, ‘All you’ve got to do is trust me.’”

14 Building A Family

Bradley Cooper was interested in building a family with his storyline and even included his late father in the mix. Cooper explained,

“[There] were little things that I did, created, in order to keep my [late] father close, one of them being that our dog in the movie’s name is Charlie, which is my father’s name.”

Cooper explained the casting to People, “[Jackson and Ally] don’t have a child together, but they have a dog together, and I wanted it to be part of their story. I love dogs.”

13 Gaga Learned How To Be Natural

Being on stage and learning your lines are two very different things. Even as an actor, you have to learn when to improvise and Gaga got a first-hand lesson on that. “I had memorized my lines, and we sat down,” Gaga says. “And he said something off-script to me, and I just said the line that I had memorized. And then he said something else to me and I kept repeating [my] same line over and over again because I didn’t know what to do.

And he said to me, ‘Are you okay? Do you feel like you need to cry?’ And then I cried for a second, and then I just threw the lines out the window.

I still had them with me, but I was able to be in a more present conversation with him.”

12 Knowing The Story

The movie was clearly a great fit for Gaga, even though Warner Bros. wasn’t convinced at first. She knows what it’s like to be judged in the limelight and how to build a career out of nothing. She also learned a lot about working with Cooper. “It really taught me something about being an actor,” she continues. “You have to know the story that you’re going to tell, and you have to know the lines. But at the end of the day, you have to be as honest as possible in the moment.”

11 Spending Time On The Press Tour

Press tours can be exhausting as you go from city to city promoting a movie. It’s a good thing these two like each o0ther so much because they definitely spent a lot of time together. A Star is Born seems to be the perfect movie for the two of them and even though we didn’t see it coming the two worked so well together that it’s hard to believe it took so long to get them together. We can’t wait to see if Gaga gets an Oscar nod.

10 Not Having The "Right" Look

In the movie, Gaga plays Ally, someone who considers herself to be ugly, no thanks to the industry who tells her that she will never make it big with a nose like that. It’s something that Gaga also has faced in real life. “I never cried, but I would just hold on to my records for dear life and say, ‘You’ll pry them from my cold, dead fingers,’” Gaga recalls of her early conversations with music executives. “What made things easier for me is that I wrote my music, so I didn’t have to beg for songs or for anyone to help me. I did it myself.”

9 They Spend Tons of Time Together

If we didn’t know better, we would wonder if the two had a thing going on, but Cooper has had a long-term relationship with Irina Shayk. The two spend a lot of time together and have been seen shopping when Irina isn’t around. “He’s with Gaga non-stop — both at the studio and at her house, often until the early hours.” According to Radar Online, Gaga was a huge support for Cooper through his fiancé's pregnancy.

“Gaga calmed Bradley’s nerves big time and he says he couldn’t have held himself together without her,”

said the source. “Their friendship is very real.”

8 He Has A Soft Spot For Lady Gaga

One thing we have noticed about these two is that they think very highly of each other. During an interview with Jimmy Fallon, he stated,

"Lady Gaga's the real deal, so the rest of the movie, it just had to be authentic,"

he added about the scene in the movie where Gaga's character performs on Saturday Night Live on the legendary late night show's actual set. "I didn't want to do a montage of her rise. This is her ascension, what could be the moment where you're like, 'Oh, okay she's arrived!' There's no other place than Saturday Night Live. If you're going to be the musical guest at the season finale of Saturday Night Live, some stuff has changed."

7 Cooper Is Blown Away By Her

We’ve all been pretty blown away by Lady Gaga’s career over the years, but Bradley Cooper definitely got to see her in a different light. Cooper told Fallon,

"She just decimated the room and that's why that scene is in the movie,"

he said of one of the most pivotal moments in the film. "And we just clicked." He stated that his and his leading lady had instant chemistry which made working together really easy.

6 She’s Not Giving Up

The character of Ally has just about given up on her career but Lady Gaga never got to that point.

“What’s different from Ally than me is that when I wanted to become a singer, I hit the concrete running,” she says. “I was dragging my piano from dive bar to dive bar to play music. I was calling people, faking being my own manager to get gigs.

I really believed in myself that I could do this and that I wasn’t going to stop until I made it. The truth is, when we meet Ally, she’s given up on herself.”

5 She Always Wanted To Be A Singer

Sometimes we have a dream inside of us that just won’t be quiet. Bradley Cooper wanted to be an actor and Lady Gaga knew she would be a singer even if she didn’t make it big. “And that’s very different from me [...] The truth is, if we were not sitting here today and I hadn’t sold as many records as I have, I’d still be in a bar somewhere playing the piano and singing. It’s just who I want to be.”

4 Gaga Is A Natural Performer

No big surprise there, after all, she has had some pretty epic stage performances in the past. Being on screen was probably a little easier on her than performing in front of thousands of people. Gaga worked with Susan Batson, an acting coach who was continuously impressed by the singer.

“It was her first [leading role], but you would have never known it, and I think that has something to do with the fact that she’s done so much performing already,”

Batson says. “The Lady Gaga that the public knows? They won’t see her.”

3 They Had Their Own Language

The two grew pretty close on set and not only did Cooper act with the singer but he directed her performances as well.

“The two would go on to form a close bond during production, developing a shorthand while working on set.

If Cooper wanted Gaga to evoke a feeling of warmth, he’d whisper ‘Tony’, knowing that she has a close relationship with singer Tony Bennett and that whenever she thinks of him she gets ‘a certain feeling of love.’ If he needed her to focus, he’d say things like ‘ninja’ or ‘assassin.’”

2 She Has Proven Herself To Be Quite An Actress

Cooper has no problem gushing about his awesome his leading lady is. He went so far as to say that she could make a career out of acting if she really wanted to.

“Her learning curve was insane, just from the first day to the second day,”

Cooper remembers. “Everybody already knows that she’s got a God-given talent as a singer, and she was able to utilize that plutonium to act. If this is something she wants to pursue, I will just have been lucky to have been part of her story as an actress.”

1 She’s Making Fans Happy

One thing that has always been important to Gaga is her fans and they are sure to be pleased about her performance in this film.

“To be honest, I think what makes me feel beautiful is when I see happiness in my fans,”

she says. “When I see or hear from them that the music that I’ve made has changed their life in some way, that’s what makes me feel beautiful. Because this is just the outside, you know? And at the end of the day, I could be in a million movies and put out a million songs and everyone could say, ‘She was so beautiful,’ but that’s not really what I want. I want them to say, ‘I saw that movie and I cried my eyes out and I learned something about myself.’”
