Mean Girls is one movie that we will never be able to forget as everyone has met at least one real-life mean girl. They are everywhere; at work, school, at home, in our friendship groups and also in Hollywood. With so much money, power and glory at stake, it can quite often bring out the claws and these girls are willing to swipe at anyone in their way.

Although the smiles are quite often fixed in place for the cameras, behind the scenes there can be quite a different story to tell. Actress Amanda Seyfried told MTV news that showbiz is exactly the same as the hit movie revealing, "This industry is just like every other industry. It’s full of petty, spoiled bullies, as much as it is full of wonderful, passionate, honest people… you just have to watch your back.”

So who can be trusted and who is the ultimate shade-thrower? Here we reveal the twenty celebrities that make Regina George look like a real sweetheart.

20 Ariana Grande

[caption id="attachment_12910" align="alignnone" width="1280"] grammy.com/[/caption]

Don't let her cute looks and angelic voice seduce you, as many fans have spoken out that their experience with Ariana Grande has not been a nice one. Wordpress blogger, PrimalScreaming, took his daughters to a meet and greet at a New York hotel which turned out to be a very unpleasant experience.

Before they met the star, they were made to stage a "fake interview" with MTV where they all had to say how wonderful it was to meet the star. When his young daughters tried to take a picture of the singer, they were asked to remove these from their phones and she had her security check this was done.

19 Ashley Benson

[caption id="attachment_12923" align="alignnone" width="1920"] via: youtube.com[/caption]

Pretty Little Liar's actress, Ashley Benson, continues the back-stabbing behaviour even when the cameras are off. She posted an Instagram photo of her "impression" of actress Amanda Bynes, with the caption: "Doing my Amanda Bynes look this afternoon." Then swiftly apologised when fans disagreed with the attack on Bynes who suffers mental difficulties.

She also confessed to Wonderland magazine that she doesn't give the best first impression. The 25-year-old revealed, "When people first meet me, they always think that I'm a b***h. I always get called that. Always. Because I don't talk." Maybe try having a conversation with people and they might warm up to you? Just an idea.

18 Lexi Boling

[caption id="attachment_12938" align="alignnone" width="1279"] skinnygossip.com[/caption]

Lexi Boling is the model who notoriously bullied Kendall Jenner to tears earlier this year. Kendall worked hard to rise above the haters who were not impressed her modelling career had gone off with a flying start, yet they still tried to bring the 19-year-old down.

Vogue Germany took a snap of Kendall backstage at a Donna Karen show. Lexi then tagged her friend Binx Walton in a comment and wrote, "She's never looked better!" and added a cry face emoji. Binx commented back, "That's f****d up" with a cry face emoji too - the two appeared to be mocking Kendall's overall appearance. When fans began to defend the reality television star, the pair removed their comments and kept their nasty opinions to themselves.

17  January Jones

[caption id="attachment_12901" align="alignnone" width="2560"] empireonline.com[/caption]

January Jones has been described by many of her co-stars as a "stone, cold b**ch." Jared Gilmore, who appeared as her on-screen son for 19 episodes in Mad Men, left the series and it wasn't on good terms. He told TV Guide magazine, "She's not as approachable as the others. She's really serious about what she does. Everyone else is so nice."

Even comedian Zach Galifianakis wasn't impressed when he met the 37-year-old actress. He claimed that when he sat with her at an awards show, she demanded him to leave their table and move away from her. It appears her sweet and innocent looks don't carry over into reality.

16 Kris Jenner

[caption id="attachment_12903" align="alignnone" width="1920"] gallerianews.com[/caption]

The world's most-famous Momager, Kris Jenner, was exposed when her ex-nanny, Pam Behan, wrote Malibu Nanny: The True Adventues of The Former Kardashian Nanny. She recalls a time when she forgot the broccoli during the shop revealing, "When I got home, Kris, who was in the kitchen, looked at the groceries I had just purchased, and let out a torrent of expletives. ‘I can’t believe you forgot the f***ing broccoli!'"

Even her ex-husband, then known as Bruce Jenner, sold her out to the press. Interviewed as Caitlyn Jenner, she told Vanity Fair magazine that Kris was "controlling" and that she was "mistreated" by the matriarch of the Kardashian family. She also exposed the decision to divorce was "twenty percent was gender and 80 percent was the way I was treated by her."

15 Kylie Jenner

[caption id="attachment_12906" align="alignnone" width="1280"] lipstickalley.com[/caption]

Like mother, like daughter - Kylie Jenner recently made the front page of OK! magazine after they labelled her "the meanest girl in Hollywood." At just 18-years-old, it was reported that her most recent behaviour angered some of her closest friends. She has ditched childhood friends in favour of her new celebrity friend, performer Pia Mia.

An insider source told OK! reporters, "There’s a reason she has no real friends. Girls can’t stand her because she’s always flirting with their boyfriends or making nasty comments about their clothes. She’s a real piece of work, and people are starting to steer clear of her."

14 Tyra Banks

[caption id="attachment_12908" align="alignnone" width="1024"] fanpop.com[/caption]

Model and presenter of America's Next Top Model, Tyra Banks, was sold-out big time when ex-contestant, Angela Preston, revealed to the press what it's really like to work with her. Preston was angry after she was fired from the show for previously working as an escort.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail online, she revealed that "kind and caring" Tyra is just an act. Preston said, "I had a daughter who passed away in 2007. So I've been through a lot. When I came on the show Tyra's trying to act so concerned. But by cycle 17 she completely forgot I had a daughter. It was all about exploitation. I didn't know it first time round. I thought I was going to live out my dreams."

13  Paris Hilton

[caption id="attachment_12919" align="alignnone" width="2000"] shemazing.net[/caption]

It's no surprise that Paris Hilton isn't the nicest girl in the world. The 34-year-old should really know better, but she has a history of falling out with BFF's and then ganging up on them. It's hard to have sympathy for actress Lindsay Lohan, yet she was bullied so badly by Hilton that everyone felt just that.

She encouraged oil heir Brandon Davis to scream Lindsay Lohan's name and call her "fire crotch" in front of the paparazzi. All this happened as she was whispering in his ear what expletives to say next. According to Lohan the bullying didn't end there, as the pair continued to call her and leave verbal abuse via voicemail.

12 Lindsay Lohan

[caption id="attachment_12921" align="alignnone" width="1200"] ixdaily.com[/caption]

Even though Lindsay Lohan was badly bullied by Hilton, that still doesn't make her a completely innocent party herself. LiLo has a terrible history which mostly involves stealing her close friend's boyfriends.

Back when she was actually tabloid-worthy, it was rumoured that she stole Jared Leto from Ashley Olsen, dated Heath Ledger at the same time he was with Mary-Kate Olsen, she also split up Aaron Carter and Hilary Duff, and stole Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos III. Basically, if you see Lohan walking towards your boyfriend then make a quick exit out the club immediately.

11 Christina Aguilera

[caption id="attachment_12925" align="alignnone" width="1920"] sheknows.com[/caption]

Christina Aguilera has had more celebrity spats than hit albums. Actor Daniel Franzese, who plays Damien in Mean Girls, revealed to Yahoo, "It's actually funny because I met Christina Aguilera and I thought for sure that would be an exciting moment in my life. I was like, 'Christina, my name's Daniel. I sing 'Beautiful' in Mean Girls. And she was like, 'Never saw it.' And then turned her back and walked away."

Actress Valerie Bertinelli had the same problem when she attended a concert alongside Aguilera. She told E! Online, "I was a fan at that time, a long time ago, and I went up to her because she was at a Van Halen concert, and I said, 'Oh my God, I think you're a beautiful singer, blah blah blah,' and she just went like 'Yah, whatever.' She gave me the cold shoulder."

10 Miley Cyrus

[caption id="attachment_12927" align="alignnone" width="1252"] via: YouTube.com[/caption]

Miley Cyrus spoke out in an interview about how she was bullied at school but then her childhood BFF, Nicole Mullen Holm, had a very different story. She told Radar Online, "Miley became so mean, I remember her shouting at an overweight girl. Miley was a cheerleader and was with the ‘in’ crowd. She was never bullied. If anyone even touched her it would have been the end of the world. Her dad would own the school!”

It appears she still hasn't shook off her mean girl attitude even now. The Wrecking Ball singer called out Sinead O'Connor comparing her to Amanda Bynes, took a photo of Selena Gomez on stage to mock her, slated Nicki Minaj in the press and dissed Taylor Swift's Bad Blood video labelling her a bad role model for girls.

9 Iggy Azalea

[caption id="attachment_12936" align="alignnone" width="1920"] rapbasement.com[/caption]

Iggy Azalea should not be allowed the password for her own Twitter account - ever. She has deleted many tweets which were considered bullying and racism. Some tweets from the Fancy singer read, "Is it wrong to feel happy to hear Southern accents again and not Mexican ones?" and "This Asian lady on the plane tried to act like she didn't understand me. I told her b***h a** you gone know English today cause that's my seat!"

She has also been called out for homophobia tweeting, "When guys whisper in each other's ears I think that's kinda homo" and "I played soccer yesterday with 5 dyke b***hes." Well, tweeting your ignorance is one way to reveal yourself as a true mean girl.

8 Kelly Osbourne

[caption id="attachment_12937" align="alignnone" width="1736"] pagesix.com[/caption]

There are few celebrities left who haven't got into a fight with the fierce Kelly Osbourne. Although it is her job to poke fun at others on E!'s Fashion Police, she also doesn't stop her sharp tongue lashing out at people off-camera. She has claimed before that she has very few female friends due to being too "honest".

Well, her "honesty" saw her label Lady Gaga's fans "geeks", made her fat-shame Christina Aguilera, she told Paris Hilton nobody cares about her as "it's not 2005 anymore" and even called out the President Obama's authority by tweeting, "I come from a county of real royals." If that's honesty then it certainly is of the most brutal kind.

7  Azelia Banks

[caption id="attachment_12940" align="alignnone" width="1200"] saintheron.com[/caption]

Azelia Banks is well-known for her one hit wonder 212 and also for having a feud with every other rapper on the planet. She was blocked by Iggy Azalea on Twitter, shaded by Nicki Minaj when she lied about supporting her on tour, attacked T.I when he tried to break up one of her Twitter fights and fell out with Lil Kim after claiming that she never wrote her own raps.

Not content arguing with just other performers she then sacked her management and tweeted exactly how she felt ranting: "I'm not going to let you manage me again. I will definitely be working BY MYSELF and saving 20% on management commissions while I avoid you sharks in the water." Best of luck with that, Banks.

6 Lily Allen

[caption id="attachment_12944" align="alignnone" width="1024"] pagesdigital.com[/caption]

When Lily Allen wants to fight someone she will always go for the bigger person. When Beyoncé launched music streaming website Tidal, she tweeted a picture of Queen B and wrote: "Protecting an art form is when you release music written by other people and take the majority of the publishing because your name is on it - Is that fair, or is that greed and abuse of power?"

Another big name she went after was Perez Hilton labelling him a "little parasite" and a "bitter lonely old queen" via Twitter. Years earlier, she lashed out at British X-Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's pop career commenting, "Taking your clothes off, doing sexy dancing and marrying a rich footballer must be very gratifying, your mother must be so proud, stupid b***h." Don't hold back Lily, let the whole world know how mean you really can be.

5 Chelsea Handler

[caption id="attachment_12947" align="alignnone" width="3342"] pagesix.com[/caption]

Chelsea Handler is a professional comedian but even her jokes are sometimes a little too close to the bone. Last year, she slated Amanda Bynes for being "crazy", fat-shamed actress Rebel Wilson, called Angelina Jolie a "woman-hating demon" and bragged about her own DUI.

She is the queen of the controversial comment. When singer Amy Winehouse performed in Serbia before her death in 2011, the Serbian Defense Minister was so upset by the intoxicated performance he called it "a shame and a disappointment." Handler tweeted, "Guess what? So is your country" and caused a national outcry with many petitioning for her apology.

4 Anne Hathaway

[caption id="attachment_12949" align="alignnone" width="1920"] quirkbooks.com[/caption]

If you are curious as to why the majority of Hollywood hates Anne Hathaway then just ask James Franco. He told David Letterman on his show, "Everyone sort of hates Anne Hathaway, and I've explained that I do too. She just so affected and actress-y." Joseph Gordon-Levitt also added that she was an "insufferable snob."

The Enquirer also reported that Hathaway has a well-known hatred for Katie Holmes as the stars would often audition for the same roles. They reported, "Anne puts forth a very genial, friendly image, but she has a wicked competitive streak. Anne always felt lke Katie used her Hollywood connections through Tom to advance her career. And she constantly makes fun of Katie behind her back, mocking her former marriage and even her appearance.”

3 Taylor Swift

[caption id="attachment_12950" align="alignnone" width="4420"] businessinsider.com[/caption]

Taylor Swift's sweet and kind persona was shattered when an insider sold her out to Star magazine. They reported, "Taylor had a dress code for friends to make sure she wasn’t upstaged. They were told to stand a certain number of feet behind her at all times, not to speak unless spoken to, and not to discuss Taylor’s private life in interviews."

Swift is well-known for her ongoing war against Katy Perry and that Bad Blood video. Katy didn't attend the Billboard Music Awards or the MTV Music Video Awards this year after Taylor bought ten close friends along to create a girl gang to intimidate the Roar singer. However, close sources to Katy have revealed that she is writing new tracks that will show the world what Taylor is really like.

2  Katherine Heigl

[caption id="attachment_12952" align="alignnone" width="1482"] usmagazine.com[/caption]

In 2008, actress Katherine Heigl showed her mean side when she withdrew her name from consideration for an Emmy blaming poor writing. She claimed, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention." Attacking the writers of your own show is one way to make sure you never work in Hollywood again.

She even trashed the movie she starred in with Seth Rogen, Knocked Up. She complained, "It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. I’m playing such a b***h; why is she being such a killjoy? It was hard for me to love the movie.”

1 Rihanna

[caption id="attachment_12954" align="alignnone" width="1180"] slate.com[/caption]

Rihanna uses her Instagram account mostly for evil. She attacked her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown's new girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, so much that she was accused of being a cyber bully. The Umbrella singer also stepped over the line when she posted a side-by-side pic of a fan and a goat and asked her following, the #RihannaNavy, to find a difference.

Even worse was when a super fan Alexis Carter went to her high school prom wearing a green gown in the style of Rihanna's Grammy dress with winged arms. Rihanna posted the picture with the hashtag #Prombat with a sad face and Carter received vicious tweets attacking her for copying the star's style. It's one thing attacking your ex's girlfriend but going after fans is just super mean.
